Eventually, doing that too much will lead people to expect that of you. Once people expect you to be unpredictable, they won't be expecting you to be predictable. However, if they expect you to be unpredictable, that would mean they know you're gonna do something they don't expect, therefore making you predictable, and by the transitive property, nothing, as you said. ...I think that's right.
