Entering The Tournament

Welcome to the First Official =SB= Grand Tournament, hopefully the first of many on =SB=. We invite you, the casual or the serious roleplayer, to join in this historic event. But first, we gotta bore you to death with these things called rules...

First one is easy enough. You are allowed one entry into the tournament, and he/she must be a fan character. No canon characters such as Sonic, Tails, Robotnik... this is purely for the fan-charries.

You will be required to submit a profile for your character, in order to prevent over-powerful characters from entering. Remember, this isn't a contest to see who can create the most powerful fancharacter, but who can roleplay the best. To make sure your profile is alright and within the rules, Master Of Darkness is in charge of approving your profiles and pointing out areas in which you could make changes.

Here's the template you should use:

Name: ~This should be self-explanatory

Age: ~Age will affect your abilities. If you're 6, don't expect to be the world's most intelligent being. Likewise, if you're pushing 80 you're not going to move too quickly.

Species: ~This again limits your abilities to a degree. Hedgehogs can run quickly, bats can fly, echidnas are strong and can dig, bunnies can jump high... be creative.

Appearance: ~What sort of clothing is your character wearing? What colour fur do they have? Wherabouts does their weaponry sit on their person?

Personality: ~Are they easily wound up? Do they keep calm under pressure? What makes 'em happy? World#s your oyster here.

Skills: ~You may have up to four skills and/or moves. Moves are extra attacks that are pre-set, that once executed take off that little more damage. Example, you could be a great swordsman, and then create three awesome moves.

Equipment: ~Up to three items may be carried into the arena. How many you can use inside isn't limited - this includes stealing your opponents(you don't get to keep them for the next round, however). This includes weaponry. As far as guns go, no big death rays, BFGs or stuff like that. Most other toys are cool, but be warned the judges will be watching your ammo - no infinite ammunition.

Strengths: ~What is your character good at? List three plus points to your character - for example, they can read the situation in battle easily due to the vast amount of experience they have, or that they're really paranoid and as such are always on their toes watching out for trouble?

Weaknesses: ~Exactly the opposite. List three minus points that can make your character a little flawed, example a fear of spiders, is unable to use anything other than a sword, can't fist-fight for crap, gets too pumped of adrenaline to focus on the trap his opponent's set... lots to choose from. And YES you have to take three or you won't be accepted. Also, make them combat-related.


There are some things you should be aware of however:

No super forms.
No Chaos Emeralds, Sol Emeralds, other magical stone or similar object.
No stupidly powerful attacks or moves - throwing a bolt of lightning to stun your opponent is fine. But causing a whirlwind that could rip apart a large city is simply too powerful.
No outside inteference or help - this means other people aren't allowed in your fight whether they're NPCs or actual players.
No healing in battle.

You ARE allowed magic, so long as it isn't too powerful. If it's more powerful than a simple chant/incantation, you'll need to take a turn to power it up before releasing it. The plus side to this is you're going to hurt your opponent badly if you connect. The bad side is they'll have enough time to dodge or prepare for the hit, or worse still - counter attack.

As your profile is approved, a little tag will appear by your name - Edited by Master Of Darkness - just to show everyone that your profile's accepted and you're not going to change it before the actual event. If if changes from MOD's name to your own, we're going to want to know what you've edited.


Entering The Arena and Posting

The contest will be fought out in a Christmas tree format, with each fight lasting for 40 posts - any time a member of staff posts does not count towards the total, thus making for a total of 20 posts each. This includes your introduction post.

When you first fight, look for the thread with your name in. The judges will make the first post for you and your opponent; detailing where you're actually fighting, weather conditions for the fight, zombie hordes, etc. They also have the right to post at any point in the fight with condition changes, etc. If there is a part of the scenery that can be used as a weapon(within reason) then it can be used.

You are required to make an introductory post as you enter your assigned thread, before your fight begins. The combatants then take it in turns to post - and it's up to you how you win the fight! If one fighter does not post within 5 days they forfeit the fight unless they get in touch with a judge stating why they're unable to post.

If the fight does not end in a clear-cut victory for one participant or the other, the winner will be decided by the judges. The judges will look for Fair Play, Grammar, Adapting To Surroundings and Entertainment Value.


Fighting

Fighting is completed by simply describing your actions each turn, and seeing how your opponent reacts. Posts should ideally be a minimum of 40 words, but you can do more if you like,. It's not difficult. Example:

Dane watched as the bounty hunter circled around him. His eyebrows lowered as he focussed on the wild creature's movements, waiting for the ideal moment to pounce.
It came sooner than expected, as Jakobovic snarled, leaping in the the kill with sword drawn. Taking a single step back, Dane raised his own sword to parry the blow before following up with a slice towards the hunter's torso. As the creature was falling prey to its own adrenaline, it would have a large amount of difficulty avoiding the blow as opposed to taking a defensive stance.

There. Easy. That's pretty much what we're expecting.

You are allowed a maximum of two actions per post - this is to prevent anyone from dodging, striking, then running away and getting another weapon out ALL in one go. Actions are drawing a weapon(it takes time to pull out a gun and take the safety off of draw a sword and balance it in your hands ready, by which point that's a good second or two of time gone), attacking, defending/dodging, or moving towards or away from your opponent.

Your character is not super-human, therefore will be expected to take at least some blows. If you dodge everything thrown at you, this will be considered unfair play and you will be marked down for it. Unless your opponent only makes one punch right at the beginning and then runs away because they choose to avoid you, then that's slightly different.
Likewise, every blow won't connect - in theory.

No Godding - that means NO GODDING. If you're caught, instant disqualification.

No editing the posts other than for grammatical content - if you've made a mistake with the action you've taken, you are NOT allowed to change it unless your opponent hasn't posted his reaction yet. Once your opponent has posted, the previous post is locked apart, of course, for grammar. If you are editing a post in this way, please PM a judge and your opponent to let everyone know you're not cheating.

All other rules for roleplaying stand - this also means saying if your opponent got hit. If you post an opponent's reactions, it's instant disqualification unless you're merely repeating what they did in their previous post, in which case that's fine. But saying that you struck him on the head and he got knocked out is cheating - you are aiming towards that body part, and then it's up to your opponent as to whether he dodges it or not.


Between Rounds

After each fight each participant will be given refreshments, weapons repaired and wounds healed, simply by stepping into the "Magical Machine" - this is free of charge and means you're ready to fight once again. the machine also relieves you of strained limbs and tops up your energy as if you've just woken up, fresh as a daisy. There is no need to post this action, it is automatically assumed you perform this action out of common sense.
You are of course free to read up on any of the other fights going on, but if you post in any fight other than your own, it's an instant disqualification.


Judging and Progressing To The Next Round

All fights will be judged on four categories, should there not be a clear winner:

Fair Play - how fairly did you play, simply? Did you force your opponent to take all your attacks? Did you dodge all of his? If you didn't play fair, you'll be marked down. Simple.

Grammar - how well can you spell and punctuate? We all have access to word processors with spell checkers so there should be no excuses on this front. If English isn't your first language we'll be lenient on some aspects of the wording of your posts, but don't take the mickey. You'll still be expected to spell correctly.

Adapting To Surroundings - when it started raining halfway through your fight, how did you react? Did you go "Ewww" and try to carry on bravely, or just completely ignore the fact it's soaking you to the skin? Acknowledge the scenery and its surroundings and we mark you up - simple.

Entertainment Value - were we kept on the edge of our seats? Was this a classic fight, one to go in the Halls of Fame somewhere? If so, you score high here.

All categories are marked out of ten(10) by your friendly neighbourhood judges Spin, Juke Box Hero and Yvette.
Once the scores are gathered from the panel and added, the winner will be declared and will move on to fight the next opponent in the tree. The loser will have to drop out of the tournament at this point, better luck next time!
The exception to this is the battle for third and fourth place, the losers from the final two sides of the tree will go head to head to decide who completes our rostrum of winners.

As suggested by you, the members of this forum, we'll be giving out shiny banners to place in your signature for 3rd, 2nd and of course 1st place. These give you ultra-bragging rights at any other forum you might post at - and of course, this one ^^

Personality: Cona is Less then enthusiastic. She likes to help people but none seems to like her becuase of her ed eye 'issues'

Skills: Darkness of heart - turns someone into an evil freak-a-zoid. (not so much an special but a curse) She can use it immediately but after using it her powers are split in half for a day.

Unlock full heart - Makes someone become what there heart reads. This skill makes someone tell the truth about everything they really are and form into that thing (ex: Someone was working for an evil guy she hit him with it, and he became a super model.) She slowly has pause for a few second before launching the skill.

Lock full heart - stops someone from becoming what the heart wants. How to reverse unlock full heart if she doesn't like what they have become but it takes most of her energy to use it and for this matter it takes her a lot of time to get it ready.

Main: Dark element! - She can control darkness like how Blaze controls fire.

Equipment: None

Strengths: She seems to love a good challenge and doesn't give up or get struck down easily. Her agility provides useful when needing to dodge obstacles. When her eyes turn red her power increases for a limited time.

Weaknesses: I you Charm her wrist rings she is under your control. When faced against undead and an opponent it is hard for her to concentrate. when her eyes go back to normal all the strain on her body makes her weaker.

Personality:Loves to fight. If he is fighting someone that shows to be of his skill and strength he will push them to their most strongest limit and fight them in his strongest limit. If he is easily wining he will be disappointed and end the fight as quickly as possible. He is always grinning no matter what. Fighting is what pleases him, even if he's losing or lost, he will never stop fighting or get upset if he lost a match. he'll just hunt down that person to the end of the world for a rematch.lol.

Skills:Hit him hard and he'll hit you harder. Kane will try to match his enemies attack but may sometimes over do it since he can't feel on how bad his wounds are when he does "over do it" he will wait for that right moment to strike his critical attack. He wont constantly go for he's critical attack because he wants to push his enemy to their utmost best and true strengths. Might Of Battle. this is when he begins to build up his strength and starts to push his enemy to his/her limit. Battle Cry, his mind becomes more aware of on coming attacks. Battle Rage, full blown out of control fighting but with a sense of direction if that makes any sense. Extreme skills with his own sword. Due to practicing with a much heavier sword then he normally uses, he's speed and might is what gets him to win.

Equipment:Sword Of Battle Might. two long knifes.

Strengths:Able to take on hits and not be affected by them. If he is cut he will bleed, but he wont freak out and jump back or grab his wound in pain. This lets him focus more on attacking his enemy then worrying about how much damage was done to him. Because he fights mainly on instinct, he can dodge and attack at the right moment and timing. He is most likely to go for deadly attacks then just normal attacks, though timing it is always key to him and may take some time to find that moment, but when it hits, it hits hard.

Weaknesses:Due to him not being able to feel pain he doesn't know when he's been damage too greatly to stop fighting, which has and can lead to his near death. When he sees that his enemy is matching to his strength he starts to enjoy become unfocused and attacks wildly to push his enemy further. He gets to full of him self and that sometimes leads to his down fall. He will sometimes hold of his big attacks in order to find that right moment to use it where it will do massive damage, giving his enemy sometime to do their damage upon him.

Species: cyborg fox

Appearance: Has a shirt and pants. Blue shoes. Red orange fur, black hair that he can pop out and turn into a big bug mech that can aid in fighting but is usually ignored. Robotic shapeshifter arm that can only transform eye, thermal and infra red eye, 4 tails, spikes on them that will conduct electricity

Personality: Partier, fun to be around, fighter and junk, friendly, partier but understanding, just pretty cool dude

Skills: Electric charge: Makes big tornados that shoot from his hands and electricity fills them.

Super speed: He goes really fast and like runs thru the dude, splitting them not very often but usually knocking them away

Jungyae combo: Uses this form of martial arts to release tons of punches and kicks and bla

Equipment: Zynthe (his sword), lightsabre, Auto-9 machine pistol

Strengths: Can fly(not with his tails), good at dodging, does crazy stunts

Weaknesses: after being hit by a particularly strong attack doesnt recover very fast, weak vs pulling at tails, weak vs swords

Personality: Relik can be headstrong at times, but thinks things through to the best of his ability when his life is on the line. Relik will always try to outdo his opponent, but is cautious in doing so. He is generally a happy-go-lucky person outside of battle, and runs his mouth when he feels he has an edge on his opponent. Once Relik makes a friend, it's for life. He will go out of his way to make sure those he cares about are not harmed.

Skills: Relik has execptional skill with a Chokuto (katana that uses either electricity or heat to amplify attack) due to years of practice. Relik only really has two exeptional skills. Anyone using a weapon similar or the same as his would have a very hard time fighting him, as he can read all of his opponent's moves. The other is the ability to harden his skin to numb pain. This allows Relik to take more punishment while focusing on the battle.

Equipment: Chokuto

Strengths: Relik has had vast battle experiences over the course of his life, making it easier to adapt to a situation. His hardened skin allows him to null the pain, but only for a short time. Relik's headstrongness allows him to be a fast attacker.

Weaknesses: Relik's biggest vulnerability is the wearing down of his hardened skin. Once the skill is worn out, all of the wear-and-tear done to him will come into play and be agonizingly painful, causing Relik to lose control. As a result, Relik must accomplish every battle as quickly and perfectly as he can, or risk death.

apiarance: A black dragon, in the sun light his scales sparkle red, his scales under his neck, chest, stomach and tale are red. His wings span is maybe 100meters long, and in the wing web their are some holes. His horns are big too, mesure one of his horns with his head[ back of head to tip of sount] it'd be the same length. they are a silver type colour.
personality: He ushally likes to work alone, but if he has a friend with him he won't complain and will work with them.
powers: can breath fire,ice, electricity, and acid. He can use his tail to knock out his aponnt[ srry, can't spell XD ] and his teeth to rip of their head.

Age: A andriod so in real life the age wouldn't do anything, but he's 18 in this.

Species: Dragon.

Appearance: His fur is white, his eyes crystal blue. He wears a cape around his neck, with a Lightning mark on his back. Think of Shadow, except the Black=white, Red= Yellow, and he wears a cape.

Personality: He keeps calm, mostly. He tries not to show his emotion. Though if someone he loves is hurt, he becomes angry. He is pretty smart, though not strong. Calm and collected, he tries to stop anyone see what he is feeling.

Skills:

Ice blast: About 3 large ice blocks will try to land on the oponent. Not very strong though.
Lightning slash: Stuns the enemy with lightning.
Ice Dash: He gains a burst of speed for a few seconds.


Equipment: Nothing.

Strengths:
He is smart. He can calculate most attacks, and how to hopefully dodge them.
He is fast, a tad slower than Sonic.
He is a smart thinker. And will make up his mind quickly.

Weaknesses: He's weak. Pretty freaking weak.
He couldn't hold a weapon, not even a toy sword.
He hates anything hot. It will start destroy his mind, and burn him.

love4shadow - okay, first off please use a spell checker. If you download Firefox, there's one build into it. Or failing that type it up in Word and cut'n'paste across. You'll also find it useful for the rest of the tournament. Please don't take that the wrong way :s
Secondly, please use the original template - okay, using 'Powers' instead of 'Skills' I can pass over, however you've got no Strengths or Weaknesses - please also give an Age as N/A could mean anything. Because he's a dragon, we'll allow a few hundred years old ;)
With regard to the skills you've chosen, you've got too many. If you count each type of breath as a power(which you should, to be fair), the tail knocking move(which sounds cool by the way ^^), and the final move is illegal according to the standard =SB= rules, as killing an opponent isn't allowed. Perhaps consider changing that for a supremely powerful bite? And if you remove two of the types of breath, we're sorted. Other than that it looks cool, I love the appearance! ^^

I had to edit a few things about him to fit the rules, but I would like to enter as Lunar.


Name: Lunar the Wolf

Age: 29

Species: Wolf

Personality: He is usually very calm, but getting hit by an opponent can get him excited. If his opponent is difficult to hit he gets angry and more violent. If pushed hard enough he becomes unaware of anything but killing his opponent. His fighting style and his weapons abilities change with his mood.

Skills: He has telekinetic abilities, but they only effect his weapons. He does not feel pain (This does not mean he doesn't get hurt). He has what he calls Eclipse Senses which let him see the energy that living creatures give off. He can focus all of his physical strength into his right arm.

Equipment:
Full Moon Disc: A four foot wide flying disc he controls with his mind. When he is calm the disc his hardened and makes a good shield. When he is excited the edge becomes shaper, but the disc becomes more breakable. He some times will stand on the disc as a means of flying. In dangerous situations he will hold the disc and slash with it, but that usually hurts his hand. When not using it, it shrinks down to the size of a quarter and he keeps it in his pocket. The disc can repair its self if destroyed, but that take several hours. (The last part is so that if he breaks it in one fight he can use it in the next one.)
Crescent Blades: Several small blades that he can control with his mind. He keeps then in a pouch on his waist and can not use them at the same time as the Full Moon Disc. When he is excited the blades move faster, but two thirds of the original amount disappear. When he is calm the blades aren't as fast but he can have up to three times as many. (It will usually stay at some level between those two.) He can use several of the blades together to block attacks, but if he doesn't have a lot of them he can not counter attack. If he needs to move faster, he can embed the blades in his body and have them move him, but that causes bleeding.
New Moon Knuckles: When he squeezes the small black amulet he wears it surrounds his right fist in an almost unbreakable black metal. He can only use it if the only thing he focuses on is offense. The metal strains the rest of his body and makes him easier
to hurt.

Strengths: His Eclipse Senses help him react to attacks faster. When he is in control of his mood he can adapt his weapons around his opponent and the environment. Since he can't feel pain he can still fight after taking a lot of hits.

Weaknesses: He is unable to fight without his weapons, he can dodge an attack on his own but can't attack. Many of his weapons can hurt him in some way. Since he can't feel pain he sometimes will push himself to hard (He may have broken his leg and not realize it then try to run on it and fall).

Name: Cy-Fox, OCP Crime Prevention Unit 002 - Miles Aloysius "Tails" Prower

Age: 25 years old

Species: Mobius Fox

Appearance: Orange-yellow fur, dark-gray and blue armor suit. Guns are stored inside two holster compartments built into the leg armor.

Personality: As a normal person, Miles is very depressed and world-weary, borderlining on aggressiveness. However he can show love, but only to a few. When 'working', he is cold, emotionless and relentless.

Skills: Shooting Weapon Attack (using shooting weapons, one at a time), Data Spike jab (melee attack), Physical Attack (basic hand to hand combat)

Equipment:
Cyberdyne Systems Domain Security - Auto-9 Model 2 Machine Pistol
OCP Security Concepts - OSC-PS2 Tactical Shotgun
Data Spike (built into armor suit, left hand region)

Strengths: Strength (having 800 foot pounds of force in both arms), Shooting (by targeting systems), Perception of Targets (by sensory system and targeting)

Weaknesses: Cold attacks, psychological/psychic attacks, energy weaponry

Name: Professor Chaos

Age: 26

Species: Hedgehog

Appearance: Wearing a long, black jacket during pauses, and a cameo colored militar jacket during battle, his fur is green and he wields two dual guns, which, very rarely and in emergency states, can transform in two twin daggers.

Personality: Sure of himself, mentally strong, very mature for his age. Sometimes, at a psychic level, during melee combat his head may start to spin. Mercenary, after 4 years of training.

Skills: Excellent aim, expert in first aid, not a bad melee combatant. He is known for his skills of survival.

Equipment:
-Dual Guns(can transform into dual daggers)
-6 bullets
-Bandages

Strengths:
- Resistant
- Strong
- Agile

Weaknesses:
- Weak speaking from a medical point
- Blood comes out very easily
- Rarely his leg may suffer and paralyze. (for a war accident)

It seems Bacon will not be able to turn into Shard... that's his "super" form.

Name: Bacon

Age: does not age, is at the appearance of 16

Species: Hedgehog

Appearence: Black hedgehog with spikes that point upwards sort of like Shadow's, only not pointing out to the side so much. Red shoes, white gloves.

Personality: Dosen't take anything seriously unless it involves a Master or Chaos emerald, is usually sure of himself, is a nice guy. He is matured from experience, but he still maintains slight immaturity.

Skills:
KO Blast; Bacon shoots a purple beam of energy from his hand, knocking out anyone it touches. Needs to charge up.
Electric foot; Bacon kicks, and his foot electrocutes anything it touches, possibly paralyzing them.
Shockwave; Bacon backflips, unleashing a partly red, partly transparent shockwave that will knock someone off of their feet.
Portal; Bacon opens a portal to anywhere he wants and can put any sort of matter through it.

Equipment:
Flash Shoes; Bacon can use these shoes to move extremely far with one step, and during one of those special steps he is invisible unless his opponent has lightning-quick reflexes due to the speed of the step. He can't maintain that speed for very long, however.
Wrist blade; A gauntlet on his right wrist, it can instantly show a hidden blade if Bacon presses down on his palm with his ring finger. If he presses down with his middle finger, the blade will shoot out as a projectile
Synthetic Wings; A metal backpack, Bacon can activate it at any time by entering a skydiving pose, significantly slowing his fall and allowing him to steer himself in midair.

Strengths:
Amazing speed/quick reflexes
highly resistant to energy and plasma attacks
He can discern even the slightest movement, making stealth very difficult

Weaknesses:
He can't do much damage without using his powers
He is less aware of attacks when moving at top speed (not Flash)
His left arm, where his Shard powers originally manifested, is especially weak

Christmas is back again

Hmm, this might be getting quite an experience.

I join up with Malena the Dragon. Here is her profile. Not in compleate, just enough to fit her age and the requirements. ;)

Tail is quite long, while at the back of it, she have a pointed arrow, looking like the edge of an arrow.

Personality: Her temper is quite rough and can easily get her into a killing mood if she feel threatend. While if convinced she might be an realy kind hearted dragon with one thing in mind. Protecting her friends at all cost. She will only make this towards special friends she have made to trust in time.

Skills:
- Element: Fire
- Fire Breathe: She will be able to breathe fire at an limited distance. Because of her age it's range is more powerful. (Didn't find any easier word for that.)
- Chicane Roundup: While she is in air, she will be able to go around a 360 turn and when balanced she will make a snap with her tail and her claws making any foe getting out of balance. Works like tailwhip, just she needs space in air, and must know when to make her move to connect. (Her age changes her ability to connect and do damage against her foes.)
- Flaming Flares: When on the ground she prefers using her flaming flares to scare her enemies off. It is also a good way to burn down her pray. She may be able to send out three flame bullets at the same time. This makes her able to concentrate on moving targets and able to try and flank away any opposing forces on the ground.

Equipment: No weapons, only her claws, teeth and tail is her weapons except her own skills.

Strenghts:
- Skilled in using her breathe of fire at moving targets. Better of while in air. Though she wont manouver as well up in the air.
- Is quite agile in her age. Are also fast to move from ground to air, and vice versa.
- Resistance to most fire based attacks.

Weaknesses:
- Chicane Roundup is highly unanticipated to connect. she might end up in the ground with her face down making her vulnerable for any attack.
- Weak against ice based attacks.
- Drains strenght when she uses her fire breathe to often.

Skills:Dark/light barrier-protects himself by using his powers of light/dark to create a dark/light sheild that protects him from all power attacks and magic spells.lasts for 12 seconds

Dark/light beam-hits the oppenent with a dark/light beam from a distance

Dark/light criti bomb-Shadver uses his dark and light powers to create a big devestating dark/light criti bomb that can easily take alot of hp from rival if he/she gets hitted from the bomb chances of critical hit 62% charging takes up to 1 turn

Dark inhale-changes the arena's background into complete darkness only he can see the darkness dark attacks slightly increase has to power it up for only 1 turn and lasts for only 2 turns

critical air shoes- allows him to fly as high as he wants to go can catch up to people if they are flying and battle rivals in the sky increases dodging abilities by 10%

Strengths:Shadver is a kind of O.K Character the advantage he has is he's speed even do he can't fly he's speed makes up he's speed is fast likes to dodge instead of blocking

Weaknesses:the only weakness that he has is his strength even do his good at speed his weakness is he's strength he's damage he gives to his person isn't that strong,weak in water based areas,mostly dodges instead of blocking

Quartz is a lilac - not pink, lilac - echidna. He stands at about average height for one of his kind, and is always wearing some posh clothing. For this tournament, he's wearing his favourite ceremonial clothing - white silk robes with gold edging, a gold belt and massive medallion around his neck - this allows him a lot of freedom in the way he moves. Atop his head sits his pirate hat, black with gold edging and a massive white plume sticking out the top of it. On his feet are his trusty worn walking boots, perfect for giving him a steady footing on almost any surface.
All of this combine to make Quartz feel good about himself. He dislikes getting his clothing dirty, and whoe betide the one who dares to touch his hat...

Personality:
A cocky one from having lived the good life, Quartz is usually quick to fire a witty remark at one of his comrades - and is just as quick at helping them out. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and his moods alters accordingly. Quartz has a strong moral code and won't fight an opponent who's down. And if there's a chance, he won't fight at all, prefering to abstain from all combat. But he needs to make repairs to his ship, and for the greater good he simply must win.

Skills:
Experienced - Quartz has been living the pirate life for many years. As such, he is good at reading a situation and trying - and thus predicting - its outcome, whether it be making a deal or making someone into a kebab with his sword.

Swordsman - Quartz is an excellent swordsman, having been using the weapon since he was a small boy. He can parry pretty well, and is adept at disarming his foes.

Melee combat - should Quartz be disarmed, he can fight without the big sword. He can rucus with the biggest guys and gals out there and if not win, at least go a favourable distance with them.

Gift of the gab - Quartz's best skill is his ability to talk, and provoke his opponents into making a forced move - and as such leave a window of opportunity for Quartz to sneak an attack in. And if that doesn't work, he'll still keep talking, and talking, and talking.

Equipment:
His faithful sword Daikatana, the sniper rifle Llorena and his hat. Seriously, his hat. There's nothing special about it other than Quartz wouldn't be seen dead without it.

Strengths:
Can fight without being distracted, in other words can focus on the task at hand.
Has high stamina levels.
Can mix and match melee and sword play.

Weaknesses:
Is incredibly vain and dislikes to either dirty or damage his clothing.
Relies way too much on technique and not strength or speed to fight.
Much prefers to run away and shout as opposed to fighting...
