To gamestop or gamecrazy. I know they rip you off, but I'm not going to sell it on ebay.. I love my PS2 and it has tons of great games, but the way it's going now it doesn't really seem to have much life left. 3 more years at the most and there are tons of PSP games still coming out so I figured might as well get some PSP games.

One I'm really considering is Sonic Rivals 2.

I'm not sure what to say to this one, as I collect consoles. I'd never dream of removing my PS2 from my life; they're still releasing games for it, plus there are so many classics out for it!
PS2 is/was - in my opinion - a Golden Age of gaming, similar to that of the SNES/Mega Drive age. So many brilliant games came out for it... if you were to get rid of it and think back in a few years "I wish I could play that again" and find it's a hard-to-acquire game, you'll kick yourself for ages. I made that mistake once - just once - when I sold Jet Set Radio and my Dreamcast, because I desperately needed the money. Why didn't I just sell the console and keep the game? XD

But yeah, it's up to you what you do, dude. I don't know those stores you mentioned being a UK guy. But if you ask me, so what if there's not much life left in it. Keep it hidden safe, and fire it up every 6 months or so to remind you of a classic piece of gaming history.
Come to think of it, I did find my Game Gear the other day, complete with Columns...

That's true. I'd imagine I'd miss it a lot if I sold it. However, I really don't play it anymore. I recently sold a bunch of old PS2 games that I never played and kinda wished I still kept a few of them, but I know if I got them back I would just get bored of them in a few minutes anyway. lol

I guess I could wait till I get a job to get the PSP games. lol Even if I don't play it much anymore. I do have a kinda rare game though. Silent Hill 3, or at least that's what I've heard.

If I had the cash, you'd know it'd be in good hands XD. I've always wanted to get a PS2 but money's a bit of a problem lol. But Medal of Honor is so awesome >>

im having this same problem, i want to sell my ps2, but there are alot of good games for it, what i would suggest is sell the console and keep the games, in case you might consider getting a ps3

Selling your PS2, that doesn't sound like the coolest choise if you have plenty of good games to it. Wont it be a huge loss to your collection.

I would never be able to seel my xbox, though some of the games could just be blown away cuz i never play them. Maybe save some of the games and have a small memory from the old console. Heh! Though PS2 actually still live and there is coming games to the console yet as we have managed to get into 2008. I mean xbox old is dead.

What fun is there to it. Hell, some games will never be able to get upgraded and they keeps a strong + into my collection.

Though as Master of Darkness mentioned. You do as you want. ;)

I'd never get rid of my consoles (unless I'm desperate for cash). Every once in a while I get a feeling of nostalgia and want to play one of my old games. Plus, sometimes those old games turn out to valuble. I'd keep it.

I suppose that is what Metallix feel right now. He have no work to pay for those games and have ended up thinking about selling his PS2 to get his hands onto some new games to the PSP like Sonic Rivals 2. :o

Though if he would have that work, then the cards might be changed. :D
