The most important meal of the day
Anyone who knows me should know that I started out the year terribly. I'm a chronic skipper, never at school. But I do have 42 credits as of right now, and you only need 40 to graduate. And that's not including my 3 current classes, to come June I'll have 45 credits, probably one of the most out of any of the seniors. So although people can cringe at my abysmal attendance record, they can applaud me on my ability to complete classes and rack up so many credits.

Now, how did I bounce back from this? Well I got a release summary from the hospital I was in the summer, procured a 504 and got myself on half days. Now I only have to be in school from 7:45 to 11:05 every day, which is a huge help and a huge load off my shoulders. Now I'm at school pretty much 98% of the time, which is better than my old like 47% of the time. And my grades are great.

Now, for those of you with less severe situations than mine, who probably don't need a 504, here's what I've done to make my grades better.

Sit at the front of the class. I sit at the front in all 3 of my classes: English, Algebra II, and Government. It especially helps in Algebra II, because math is my weak point. Also, I lost my glasses and I'm legally blind so it helps me see the board a little better. But not really in Algebra, I can't see the overhead when we're taking notes. However, being at the front of the class makes it easy for the teacher to pass me the transparencies when he's done writing them. So I'm just a page behind everyone else in notes, but at least I get to take them at my own pace without squinting and straining to see.

But seriously, it may seem like really old, out of date advice, but trust me. You really want to try and switch your seat to the front. College, middle school, high school... Whatever you're enrolled in right now. Studies have proven that A students usually sit in the front. Also, I sit at the table that my teacher does to grade papers. So he is literally right there so I can ask him all the questions I need to. I literally ask him at least a dozen questions per assignment. And he helps me a lot, until I understand what I'm doing.

And teachers don't mind that! At least, most don't. They shouldn't. Asing questions is vital. It shows teachers that you're studious, eager, and want to do things the right way. Teachers usually give leniency to students who have proven that they actually care. So when you do mess up, your teacher will probably take it easy on you. At least, this has proven true in my many cases of messing up.

But ask as many questions as you need to. In private or during the lesson, if you don't understand something, just speak up. The teacher will explain it in the most simplest terms until it literally makes complete sense to you. And if tney weren't clear the first time, let them know! Who cares if the rest of the class is all sighing and like "ugh". I know I don't! There have been many times where the class is all smacking their lips and groaning because I have questions. And you know what I do? Turn around in my seat and tell them to shut up because none of them can fight me. True story.

But anyways, those are the two crucial bits of advice I have for you people. So follow them and do well! I'm sure I have more somewhere up here...
