Windows' own built-in Sound Recorder is sufficient. Especially if you're converting a WAV format file from Sound Recorder format to MP3-WAV format. If you want something with a bit more kick, there's Audacity. I'll put Audacity on Cyberdyne's server to make it easier for everyone to get it. Also if we get to the point of 'live' broadcasts, I might see about Skype. Also to save a WAV in MP3-WAV format: (Windows 98 to Windows XP. Unsure about Vista) 1)When you're finished recording, go to the File Menu and choose Save As 2)Name your file and look at the bottom of the Save As Box. There should be a line that says Format and PCM 22,050 Hz, 8 bit Mono or something similar. That's Sound Recorder format and shouldn't be used when transporting clips. A SR format file usually is around 10-40 MB depending on length, and that's a dialup killer. 3)Click on the Change button. 4)A new window will open. Click the Format drop-down box, choose MPEG Layer-3 and press OK. 5)Check your filename and then press OK again. 6)It'll convert and you're ready to send. |
