If I preordered my PS3 I wouldn't be up at midnight either... ChartTrack has confirmed that 165,000 PS3 units were sold during the console's launch weekend. The figure is three quarters of the total 220,000 UK launch stock for day one, and makes PS3 second only to PSP in the overall launch weekend sales stakes. The Sony handheld shifted 185,000 in its opening weekend back in September 2005. PS3’s record-breaking debut for a home console comfortably beats the previous top seller Nintendo Wii, which sold 105,000 after its frantic launch weekend in December last year. Fellow format rival Xbox 360 racked up an estimated 70,000 at launch in December 2005. The figure also means that Sony has not sold all of its opening weekend stock, something the platform holder claims is part of its overall strategy at retail.

I was in town yesterday and i saw not one PS3 being sold yet they were in stock EVERYWHERE. I went to every shop to see what cheap games i could find (not to mention to go on the 360 demo pods XD) and i saw about 4 wiis being sold yet no PS3'S.... Only ONE person in our school has a PS3 and i know a lot that have 360's and wii's. Only people who dont mind consoles breaking if you have a powercut go for the PS3.

Nothing you said proves PS3 isn't doing that well. Especially considering the first two days they sold nearly all of the stock in the UK. They also sold 600,000 PS3s in Europe so far. It has been what? Four days since it launched? Everything you said was speculation and opinion... Btw, of course they are in stock. Do you know how many Sony had shipped to Europe? 1 Million consoles. That's alot for all at once especially for a launch. It's 2/3rds gone now too. Of course you know alot of people with 360's and Wiis... They have been out longer. Keep in mind one person's "perception" of what's going on does not have anything to do with what is actually going on.

If it sold that much then how come I'm not hearing much about it? I just gotten the news from THE FEED, a short, yet brief news show on G4, showing the empty booths of PS3 lauch. I also heard that in Japan, sony is having trouble with selling their systems over there.

I keep laughing EVERYTIME I read how the media reported how PS3 was doing badly because no one was at the booths... 1) They had NO proof 2) Most people in Europe preordered theirs so they just picked it up the next day... Why stay up late to get it when you don't have to. The media was owned hard and their bias that has been shown before is quite obvious now. Here's more about the Euro launch... It's 600 dollars, some people can't actually afford that x__X So I dunno how it sold that much over there, being I know little about pounds. Besides they DID have proof, even a picture. Besides G4 doesn't lie. even Adam from Xplay is pretty truthful about his information. He finds the prices recdiclious, but I am from american so it differs here then over there. However it sold that much...it's unbelieve being that expensive.

Oh man I get a chuckle every time I read those crappy articles. None of the media even could think for themselves. One site reported it then the rest all reported the same thing with NO proof, just assumptions. Makes me wonder if they're all part of Microsoft's 3 Billion Viral Marketing campaign.

Oh god, there was actually some horrible news here that a guy killed some people just to play the demo of PS3 o__O right in the line. Crazy eh? Stupid fans. Breaking out in fights like that. Yeah Bill Gates is a money hoggler. Screw him. shot I'm getting a WII anyway XD; heck been relible too the system since I was very young. Ugh still some PS2 magzines here had some awful things to say about nintendo of course they did use to work for them untill they became another company. So I wouldn't doubt they try to kill eachother in competation.

They have REALLY screwed us Europeans over this time. They didnt put the cheaper system on sale, they delayed it for months, THEY TOOK OUT THE CHIP THAT LETS US PLAY PS2 AND PS1 GAMES and countless other problems. Its on sale for £560 pounds over here and if i'm right it means you guys get it cheaper. <_< Also as it turns out i asked myself at a few stores and they haven't sold ANY.

Don't believe them, no one cares. You're buying into all of this media B.S. and don't really know what really is going on. It's sad that so many people just believe what they hear on the internet. Trust me it isn't your fault. They are convincing with their twisting of information. 1) They didn't put the cheaper system, because no one really wants it. Most sells come from the 60 Gb version. They are going to have some in the future but most will be the 60 GB model. 2) They delayed it for months due to a lack of diodes for the laser, if they had released it people would complain about not being enough. There already weren't enough for America and Japan if they had launched it everywhere else there would be even less. 3) They added a built in emulator to play PS2 and PS1 games and took out the chip. They did that for PS2 also. PS2 originally included the PSone chip inside it but they removed it soon after for an emulator. Even before PS3 came out they said they were going to remove the PS2 chip. They ONLY put it in there so you didn't have to wait to play old games on your PS3. 4) America does get it cheaper, but you have to factor in many things... One major factor is you guys make more money than we do in America. 5) Those countless other problems are probably BS as well or not really even problems.
