Sadly this could have been avoided if they A) Took their time or B) Made it exclusive to one console. Sonic the Hedgehog showed so much promise when Sega originally demoed the game at the Tokyo Game Show. Back then, it seemed Yuji Naka's Sonic Team was finally moving back to Sonic's roots: speed and ignoring side-characters. Alas, it was not to be, as Sonic the Hedgehog proved little more than prettier and less playable version of the formula established in the original Sonic Adventure. Aside from the questionable design choices, Sonic the Hedgehog was glitchy and altogether rough around the edges. Why? Kikizo (via Kotaku) recently chatted with Sonic Team producer Yojiro Ogawa, who offered an explanation: "The reason why probably ended up with what we see today, involves a lot of reasons. One is that we did want to launch the title around Christmas, and we had the PS3 launch coming up, but we had to develop for Microsoft's 360 at the same time and the team had an awful lot of pressure on them. It was very hard for the team to try and see how we were going to come out with both versions together with just the one team. It was a big challenge." Sadly, that does little to explain some of the complaints in 1UP's own review. "...confusing camera angles and slippery control means that once again, you'll be constantly plummeting to your doom with little warning. Seriously, you'll sometimes find yourself falling into a bottomless abyss at the very outset of a stage," said Shane, who rated the platformer a 5.5 (Average). |

It seems that they canno`t create on two consoles at the same rate, as that has happend to more games from sonic team. Maybe one console would be the right desicion. But i am not shure. But yes they need to improve on creating Sonic games more at the same level instead of using a little bit difference on different consoles. Still i think they are on to the better track. But they are people that complains about some small things and rate the game from there. |

What they need is new developers to make the team bigger so they can handle that. Or get High Impact Games to do it for them. That's a good team that won't make it bad.

Yeah! Probably you have a point there. A bigger team could be the solution. |

Rubbish excuses for a problem that the Sega put the developers in. If Sega actually want to release good games how about cutting their staff some slack? Give them a little bit more time and I'm sure they could have come up with something better than the unfinished mess we all ended up buying. |

Well it was their fault. They pushed the team to finish it quickly to get it out in 2006. They should have just changed it to 16th anniversary and pushed it back till February or early March. Of course they were already busy on Secret Rings, but they took the easy way on that one. He's always running and can't fall off of a ledge because of the linear path. |

I thought it was a good game, I enjoyed to story except the whole elise and sonic thing. the game had a ton of action and good ideas, it was just poorly put together. Like the mach speed areas would have been great if the game just flowed from the action stage into a mach speed area and gave you a reason why you where running like that. To me all the loading screens killed it, and they made the missions unbearable. I would have beaten all of the missions had it not taken so long to start them over if you fail. I think sonic team is on the right track, they just need to pay more attention to quality. |

Yes they are on the right track, but if this was developed on only one system or their own system the glitches and loading would most likely be cut down and it would be a highly polished game. |

I didn't think it was a bad game, people just get mad at the loading and such and don't look at everything else. It's a ton of great ideas and action, just poorly put together, I can't stress that enough. |

There were lots of complaints about that. Plus camera, falling off edges, and loading. Katamari is right. It was just poorly put together. If it was done right it would have gotten in the 9s for ratings, I'd bet. |

I agree with sonicyoda about this. If the team was given a bit more time, then consumers could have received a rather excellent product. I still think that the game isn't that bad, but there is plenty of room for improvement. |

Exactly, anyone here who has played the game would have to agree that it would be awesome if it was just one big level instead of loading every 5 minutes. As for the camera, I didn't have a single death from the camera going crazy on me, I admit the camera does whatever it wants sometimes but unless you like forget how to play the game when the camera goes off chances are you can figure out where you need to jump or walk to. |

I agree that it should've been one entire stage. The game seems so familiar to Sonic Adventure in a way. |
