Chapter 9: Memories of Old Kingdom

Many, many, years ago...

Organ Island floats high above the Advance Sectors. It didn't carry such a spooky vibe, in fact it looked rather majestic and peaceful. An odd looking path, built by some form of magical barrier, was set up so gaining access to the Island from the Advance Sectors was easy. Venturing through its lush forest and beautiful yet very large plants, you can finally see the massive castle and all its glory. Guardians roamed around the outskirts of the Castle. Back and forth they walked and ran, inside and outside they preformed their tasks and entered with ease. Labeled around the Castle was signs indicating that this was a branch of the science sector, its main campus being held at the HQ in Empire City.

Going deeper into the depths of this facility, passing many doors and several workshops, labs and large testing rooms, we soon find a giant computer in the belly of this sleeping beast. A large spiral staircase leads to the main core of the computer, which was also massive in size and concealed several hundred feet below the Castle. Guards were posted at different checkpoints of this massive stairwell, for each checkpoint had large doors leading into rooms that were somehow connected to the main core. Lab-coat wearing furries and humans were present at the base of the core, making sure all went well and upgrading software if needed. Most of the people down there however were guards, each of them carrying different weapons. A majority of them held guns of some sort. The higher ranked officers wielded their own weapon of choice.

"V.I.R.A...?"

"Yes, her name is Vira, which is short for Virtual Intelligence Response Assistance." One of the lab-coats said to a young looking guard. He was wielding an assault-rifle. He looked around the enormous room and up the stairwell as the guy raised an eyebrow.

"You must be new to this shift, correct?" The guard simply nods his head, still paying the guy no mind as he kept scanning the place. The lab-coat sighed and tugged at the newbie's arm.

"Come, I'll introduce you to her." He says with a bit of annoyance. The guard followed, and soon they were standing in front of a small monitor built into the large machine.

"Well, say hello to her." He insisted. The guard looked at the screen for a moment, then leaned forward a bit.

"Um... Hello?"

"Hello!" A female neko-like figure digitally appeared in front of the screen. She smiled and did a small introduction spin and dance before bowing to greet the man. He chuckled a bit and waved back.

"I'm Vira, nice to meet you, new guy." She adds with a wink. The guard's smile deepened as he realized this A.I. had more personality than all of the guards set up down here.

"Nice to-" Suddenly she becomes very serious, and instead of displaying a cool and calm blue color, the figure glows a red color as she gets into a fighting stance.

"Intruder approaching! Two of them!" She shouts to everyone, scaring both the lab-coats and the guards. The alarm instantly goes off, flashing red lights as some compartments were being closed off. The lab-coats started to panic as the guards tried to calm them down and guide them to safety. They all quickly realized they were trapped like rats as large blast-doors came down with a loud boom, sealing them in while protecting them from whatever was trying to get in.

"Vira! Open these doors!"

"No can do! Protocol states that I shut down this entire area to prevent any-"

"I don't care about protocol! I care about our lives! Now open these doors and get us out of here!" Another guard, older and bigger than the newbie, placed his hand on the shouting lab-coat.

"It doesn't matter if she opens those doors or not. We wont make it to the first checkpoint."

"How can you say that!" The guard answered his question as he points to a set of screens a few feet away from Vira's screen. He turned around as the newbie and a few lab-coats huddle around the screens.

"It can't be. Isn't that a Royal?"

"Which one is he?"

"Is it that white one?"

"No, I heard a Guardian killed him, so he must be dead."

"You got it wrong, he killed the Guardian. That is why they call him White Death"

"Enough." The older guard finally spoke. Everyone was silent as they stared for a moment, then turned their attention back on the monitors as they watched this robed figure walk towards the next checkpoint, leaving a trail of dead bodies. Suddenly it vanished in a white blur off screen. They started to panic as they couldn't see it anymore, checking all the monitors as if hoping it would show up at the next checkpoint. A loud banging sound came from above them. It was so loud that they heard it even thought they were miles and miles below the source of the sound. The last booming bang hand a metallic ring to it, as if something was ripped off. Then silence fell across the room. Not a sound was heard as they all tensed up and shifted their eyes from side to side, looking around to try and stretch their hearing to the checkpoints. Crash! Two large and thick metal doors pounded into the floor behind the crew gathered at Vira's terminal. Their hearts were in their throats as the doors flopped to the ground. The impact of the drop left two large dents in the floor while kicking up a bit of dust.

Suddenly another object lands with a mighty boom. The power of its touchdown cleared the dust away. A black robed being slowly stood to its full height from its crouched position. Fear and terror chocked every single soul in that room as they all stared at the white hands sticking out of the sleeves. The guards were paralyzed as none of them motioned to attack or engage this intruder.

"Well now... We meet again, White Death." The older guard spoke, taking a few steps towards the being. The others watched in awe, in shock, and in pure suspense as the guard continued to move towards this cloaked person. Finally he stood about a foot away from the robed one and remained still. The being didn't even look at him, nor did it acknowledge his presence.

"Right... Aren't you mission someone?" As soon as he spoke those words another robed being appeared in a loud thunderous boom and a quick flash of lighting. The gray wolf tossed back his hood, revealing himself to be Ezekial.

"As promised, you will be allowed in our sanctum where your safety is assured." The guard looked at Ezekial for a moment, then nods his head and walked passed the two robed one. Once that was done Ezekial put his hood back on, for two reasons. Reason one was to protect his identity. Everyone down here would be dead in a matter of seconds, seeing as his 'partner' was itching for the order to kill. The second reason was that he was done surveying the room. Ezekial had gathered more than enough information about his surrounding, which made him question the power of this Dark-Heart standing next to him.

"What should of took this thing twenty minutes took him two seconds. Even with his speed and sword skills, I should of gotten here first. Judging by the small craters under his feet, I'd say he dropped the entire way down. A drop like that would kill anyone before they even reach the ground. Everyone expect Lord Fate. I'm guessing that is why it took that drop like nothing..."

"You gonna kill them all, or should I..." It spoke, cutting off his train of thought. His voice slightly echoed. It was haunting and would bring a shivering chill down anyone's back. The casualness of his voice made the wickedness seem so natural, as if evilness made up his entire soul, if it had one.

"I have my goal, and you have yours." The wolf replied. With that said Ezekial started to walk towards Vira's terminal. Two steps into his stride he heard the screams and shouts of bloody murder, along with flesh ripping and bones breaking. Six steps later the Dark-Heart was walking at his side, partly covered in blood as it held its pure white blade within its hand. Dead bodies laid across the room, a few of them Ezekial simply stepped over, wishing their deaths didn't end by the likes of this thing walking next to him.

"You... They're..." Vira started, feeling trapped and helpless in her monitor.

"You're sick!!" She shouts, stomping her feet in rage as she looked around the room. Everywhere she looked there were corpses and blood gathering under the bodies.

"Sorry you had to witness that." Ezekial starts off, stopping in front of her terminal as he lifted up a black flash drive with an odd looking green liquid coursing through it.

"W-what are you doing?" Ezekial ignored her as he pressed a few buttons once a keyboard slid out from under the monitor.

"Stop it!! Stop that right now!" She shouts, when suddenly a loud bird screeching came from above. Soon, a giant elegant eagle-looking bird lands where the Dark-Heart made his landing. Yami quickly leaps off his mount and fixed his eyes on the white being and Ezekial.

"Vira!"

"Yami!! Please help!" Yami didn't need to be told twice as he narrowed his eyes. The wolf looked over his shoulder for a second, recognizing Yami as one of the new SB Guardians.

"Take care of him, but don't-" Before Ezekial could finish telling the Dark-Heart not to kill Yami, the being was already in motion. Two seconds went by and the white robed being was leaping towards Yami with its sword over its head, ready to bring his blade down and split him in half. A strong rush of wind cast the being aside as Yami tossed his arms up, summoning the strong wind to defend himself against his attacker. He was surprised himself when he saw that his little trick worked. Of course, he managed to scare his mount away as it flew back up the spiral staircase. After a moment or two he realized now was his chance to advance on the wolf. Sprinting forward he readied a ball of wind to hurl at the other robed one. The more it swirled and spiraled in his hand the bigger it got.

Finally he was at a safe distance to launch it without getting a kickback from the force of it. Still running he pitched it at the wolf, only to slide to a halt as the white being slid in the line-of-line. A stronger gust of wind shattered the attack as a mighty spiritual aura began to swirl around the white being. Clearly it was angered, enraged that it was tossed aside so effortlessly. It began to slowly lift its head up, slowly revealing its face inch by inch.

"Got it-"

"Yaaaami!!" Vira shouts in a glitch-like manner. She dropped to her knees and clutched her head as the wolf took two steps back and watched the damage he had done. A black liquid started to flow through the entire computer room, changing it, reforming it, corrupting it.

"Dark-Heart, we're done here." The wolf adds as he looked at the being. For a moment he thought it ignored him as it continued to stare at Yami with murderous intent. Finally it relaxed its shoulders and simply nods once. Two thunderous booms and a flash of lighting caused the two of them to vanish from sight. A bit confused at their departure, Yami realized it was safe to rush to Vira. He reached her within a few seconds, sliding to a halt as he tried to stop whatever was happening to her.

"Y-Y-Yami! Make it s-s-s-s-s-stop! Save me please! I don't want to forget you! I don't want to not-not-not love you! Please-please!" She shouts and whimpers. Yami was clueless. He didn't know what to do. He tried pressing different keys but nothing happened. Suddenly he got an idea and held up his ring to her virtual body.

"I'll save you. I'll bring you back. You will remember me, you will remember our love." He tells her as his ring started to collect her memory. He was pleased to see that it was working, seeing as she is an A.I. he didn't think collecting her memory would work. Once he obtained it a suddenly explosion roared out and threw him a few feet back. He slid on the floor a bit before coming to a stop. The alarms began to blare louder as the room filled with black smoke. They soon stopped at the computer and large machine as eighty percent reformed with a dark vibe. He slowly sat up after stirring himself to open his eyes. Confused and dazed he began to look around, until he saw Vira. His mouth hung open in amazement. She wasn't a virtual being anymore. She was right in front of him, in the flesh, standing in the mist of the black cloudy smoke that was slowly fading. She looked a bit different however, her clothing for one. A menacing look was displayed on her face, which struck a bit of fear in his heart. She turned to him and blinked a few times. His heart began to race because she was staring at him as if she didn't even know him.

"So... Are you my new play thing until I kill you, or did you summon me into being? Protocol says you're not whom I take orders from. So either I kill you, or you take me to..." She paused for a moment, wondering why this male was looking at her in a strange manner.

"I... Um... I have this ring... I-it'll help you-"

"Thanks... Now do I get to kill you?" She replied, appearing before him in a blink of an eye as she snatched the ring from him. She looked at it for a moment, wondering what it was for. Suddenly a surge of memory rushed into her mind as she jerked her head back and widen her eyes. After a few moments she gasped and dropped to her knees. She pants a bit as she looks around, realizing she isn't in the computer anymore, but outside, living flesh, in the real world.

"I'm..." She utters, only to turn her attention to Yami as she saw him move towards her. Her eyes grew big as they watered. She smiled deeply and flung her arms around him as she embraced him tightly, whispering 'thank you' over and over again. Her last few words were 'you saved me,' to which Yami remained silent as he embraced her back. He could only wonder what the Royals were planning to do with her. Now that her memory returned and whatever plans they had for her were gone, he guessed he would never know. He was unaware that she didn't lose her new memory, but simply filed it away, waiting for the one who brought her to life to come for her...

Present Time

"Virus." Fenroar called to her. She snapped out of her trip down memory lane as she turned to him. She realized it was dark out now. They were nearing a clearing in a forest. The grassy ground slowly became sand, to which a desert was being presented. Oddly enough a large river flowed right through this desert.

"I see smoke in the distance. Several miles from here I think." Fenroar was still bothered by how his voice changed so much ever since he put on the robe. It masked who he was perfectly, he just didn't get use to it yet.

"I see that... The Guardians are trying to awake their sleeping kingdom." She replied, to which he looked at her a bit confused. A sleeping kingdom? Virus got the feeling that he didn't understand what she was talking about. She sighed a bit and started to explain.

"Frost Empire, ever heard of it?" For the sake of his identity Fenroar played dumb. He knew of this empire thanks to Cross and his brother. At times he would forget who was who. Virus saw through his lie though, yet she still played along seeing as she had no right to judge a person for keeping secrets. She has her own, mainly how she wasn't even real until some odd years ago.

"Its the Old Kingdom SB had before the Guardians took over-"

"Frozen by a mystical ice that never melts. Supposedly its a powerful spell that has suspended their movements." Virus blinked a few times. She wasn't sure if she was more annoyed at being cut off like that, or the fact that he knew what she was talking about from the start.

"That is one of the myths I've heard at least. Didn't think it was real though." Once again his lying betrayed him as she squinted her eyes with more annoyance.

"Right... Sure... Regardless, that is where the Guardians are heading now. This explains the camp fire smoke we see-"

"So where we heading?" He cut her off again, finding a nice sized rock and sitting upon it. She huffed a bit as she slowly and tightly closed her eyes, easing her frustration a bit as she opened them again.

"Our master wants us to seek out an outlaw. A group of them actually-"

"Ever thought that they found us first?" She motioned to shout at him for cutting her off again, yet his question proved to be a good one. She was in such a memory daze that she wasn't aware of her surroundings. Fenroar knew they were being followed for some time now, or rather someone made their approach but kept their distance.

"Can't do a damn thing right." That voice caused her heart to beat loudly as her eyes widen for a second before narrowing with rage and hate.

"Konos..." Fenroar spoke up, remembering his name well as he made it his mission to teach this guy a thing or two about manners. They both were surprised though. He wasn't wearing his robe. Without it he looked so different, so much like Cross and Faith. Actually, he was a complete blend of both of them. White cloth-like-mask covering his nose, mouth, and chin, black cowboy hat, panco-like-robe, chains hanging from his black jeans, boots with spurs, X shaped designs instead of crosses on his jeans and hooded panco, and the same hair style as Cross.

"Boss man didn't want ya to find the outlaws, he wanted ya to stop the little shits trying to awaken their pathetic little kingdom-"

"Enough!" She shouts as she retains herself from producing her claws and ripping this cowboy apart. She only didn't do so because there was someone else standing next to him, who also looked like a cowboy of sort. Also, Fenroar had stepped in front of her as he stuck his arm out to stop any advancement from her.

"Wait..." He adds, thinking for a moment as he recalled something Faith told him a long time ago.

"My brother isn't fit to be a Royal, too focused of rebuilding a dead kingdom. 'Whats lost is lost' I'd tell him. Ha, he even renamed it Lost Kingdom. He'll come back with a vengeance, Fen. He'll see to it that the Guardians pay for what they did-"

"Konos Gunler, AKA Gun Slayer... Three knights in one, the triple threat..." Fenroar states, remembering more details Faith had shared with him.

"No, kid. The threat isn't even here yet... But yeah, Konos the Gun Slayer is who I am."

"Then this is... TC, Tactic Flint Sniper. He was one of the exiles when the Frost Empire was overthrown." Konos smirked at Virus's comment. He shook his head as he crossed his arms.

"No, computer bug. This slugger right here is the next king. Diamond Trigger is returning, and we wont stop until you Royals and Guardians are dead." Movement could be heard behind Virus and Fenroar. Apparently these two weren't alone. A good large group of other outlaw-like characters revealed themselves. Before the two royals could even get ready to fight, two loud thunderous booms came from the camp fire not too far from them. Fenroar instantly got an idea and he formed up next to Virus.

"Yeah I know what you're thinking. I thought of it first just so you know."

"Yeah sure, now get moving." Fenroar replied to her. Within a second the neko-cat was gone, and suddenly their surroundings glitched several times before setting at the camp ground the other was group was at. Half of the outlaws only came with them, which confused both Rabid, Blaire, and the others as they watched these new comers glitch into appearance before them. Yami instantly spotted Virus, knowing it was her despite the robe she wore. In fact, Yami always knew, one of their many secrets they kept for themselves. He made a mental note that she was several feet up on a tree branch. All was silent as everyone was puzzled and confused. This peaceful moment was no doubt the calm before the storm. Like the changing wind, it only took a matter of seconds before a mass brawl explodes within the camp ground... The sound of fierce battles fill the night sky...
