(Sorry for the long delay, here be the next one :D) Chapter 6: Royal Blood Rabid stepped off the last step that lead into the large open room. It looked like the cargo-holding room of the ship. It sized the entire length of the ship, pillars of wood for support, and cannons placed along the edge of the walls. Oddly enough the cannons weren't facing outward, but rather towards the center of the room. A few boxes and barrels were clustered together around the massive room. His steps echoed ever so slightly as he approached Lord Fate and Ludi. Fate had his back turned while Ludi sat on one of the barrels. His head was lowered slightly, indicating that his focus was upon the ground. The brown haired human took it upon himself to form a triangle among the three of them, leaning against one of the several pillars throughout the room. He crossed his arms and closed his eyes, sighing a bit as the trio remained calm and silent. The creaks of the wood created a steady rhythm, other wise the quietness within the air was the only thing audible. The odd factor within this setting was the lack of tension in air. Should anyone walk in and see them they would think these men were simply hanging around or not even there at all. Finally, Ludi broke the silence with a simple word. "So..." He started off, pausing to catch their attention first before he continued. "Virus blew her cover. I'd say 'unexpectedly' but, anyone could of seen that coming." "She was sloppy, arrogant, and distracted by mere emotions." Rabid added, a bit of annoyance flowing through. "As if you're one to talk, Head Royal. You decided to switch personalities like a psychopath. Lucky for us we have a 'somewhat' lame story to follow your change in character-" "I lied by telling the truth. I displayed who I am, what my feelings were and towards whom, which made me more realistic than that demon-cat parading around like an idiot, hoping to not get caught." Luid shifted his eyes towards Rabid for a moment, glaring underneath the darkness of his hat. "Maybe she wanted to get caught. Ever thought that you distanced yourself so far from both the Guardians and the Royals that you weren't aware of any changes in our plans-" "I'm well aware of every plan we've set forward, so don't mock my intelligence or question my resolve. You weren't around when we did this the first time." Ludi could only glare at Rabid's comment. He even managed to lean forward a bit, as if ready to leap off the barrel and attack the human. Once again silence filled the room, but this time the tension began to rise. That was until a small gust of wind whipped by. Both Ludi and Rabid looked towards Fate, which was where that force of wind expelled from. This was Fate's way of getting their attention while warning them to keep their bickering to a minimum. "Master Royal, got something on your mind?" Ludi asked as he returned to his relaxed sitting posture. Rabid raised an eyebrow when he didn't reply. Both of them could sense something was bothering him. Even with his back towards them they could feel the intensity shrouding him. "My son..." Fate spoke. Those two words caused both Ludi and Rabid to tense up as they continued to listened. "Explain to me how you managed to lose my son." His voice was stern. Despite this they kept their composure as they thought about their next words. Ludi simply turned his attention towards Rabid. Once he caught sight of this he sighed, knowing Ludi wasn't going to explain what transpired. "It is an odd and long story that I wish to not spend so much time on. For now, I'll tell you that me and your son had an argument about you. He knew about your involvement with the Royals. He even knew you were the Master Royal. He set out to prove this to me, unaware that I was heavily involved myself-" "So we used that notion to carry out the next stage in our plan. It opened a door for us to obtain-" "I'm aware why it was done. What escapes my knowledge is how you managed to allow both my son and his digital-dark copy to fall into their hands." Fate interrupted Ludi who was finishing up for Rabid. Both of them didn't have a decent reply to his question. In fact, Ludi simply shrugs as he thought for a moment, and then delivered his best answer. "It was either your son, or our cover being blown. I made the choice to sacrifice your son-" "We made the choice, as we thought out plan to further our goal." Rabid quickly adds. Ludi was a bit surprised by this. He looked at the brown haired male for a moment before nodding his head to say thank you. "Does that answer your question, sir..." Ludi finished as he tilted his head a bit, waiting for the man to turn around and finally face them. Fate remained with his back towards them, as if still bitter about the whole situation. "I suppose it matters not at this point. In a way, we've exchanged one son for another." Rabid slowly joined Ludi's side as he remained sitting on the barrel. Both of them seemed confused at Fate's words. They listened intensely as he continued his speech. "Your son, Sigma, has joined our ranks." Rabid's eyes widen a bit as he heard this news. "Fenroar? He is..." Ludi stopped himself as if he couldn't believe his very own thoughts running in his head. "He believes he is still a noble member of SB. His transformation is slowly taking place. He'll realize the truth soon enough." Both of them were still in a bit of shock. They were speechless to the point of being temporary paralyzed. Finally Ludi cleared his throat and looked around a bit. "Well... That's good news." He comments, snapping Rabid out of it as he fixed his eyes on the floor, thinking more about what all of this meant, and how it fit with their plan. "What about Yami?" Rabid finally spoke up to beat down the shock that coursed through him. Ludi nods his head to confirm his own interest on this subject. "His life falls in the hands of Virus. If she can convert him, convince him to join our cause, then his life will be spared. Should she fail, he remains an enemy, and all of our enemies will perish." Fate slowly turned around as an evil grin slowly crept upon his face. The both of them slightly cringed at the sight of his haunting stare. If there was one thing they both hated about Fate, was moments like this that revealed his true nature, his evil and demon-like features that he manages to hide so well. His devilish grin quickly faded into a serious frown as he crossed his arms and tilted his head a bit. "We've wasted enough time I believe. You know why we're on this ship, so lets collect what we need and continue our plan." Ludi leaped off of the barrel as Rabid straightened up a bit. They were both ready to move out as Fate dropped his arms to his side. Suddenly a flash of light ignites the room as a loud thunderous boom shook the floor. Ludi and Rabid shielded their eyes with their arms for a moment when the lighting flashed, and upon uncovering them they laid their eyes on a hooded and cloaked male figure. His skin was pure white, which was revealed only by his hands that stuck out of the sleeves of the cloak. His head was lowered a bit, allowing the hood to hide his face. Rabid seemed tense upon this person's arrival. Ludi on the other hand showed no reaction. Not that he wasn't displaying any, but rather that his hat, along with the darkness shrouding his face, hid any reaction he would currently be displaying. His body tensed up though. Rabid even managed to noticed this, which made him feel more timid. "Your Dark-Heart has a robe..." Ludi pointed out with a bit confusion. "Enemy Class Dark-Hearts are not to be taken lightly, Fate. They-" "I'm well aware of the dangers in producing an Enemy Dark-Heart. Giving it a robe allows us to provide the SB Guardians a fake Master Royal to chase, while strengthening our ranks the more it consumes LE from the lives it take. It is perfect for our mission, it is under my complete control, so their should not be any concern or objection with this notion." The more Fate spoke the more they could sense his anger rising. The figure to his left slowly closed his fists, tightening them the moment Fate finished his speech. Silence filled the air, until Ludi simply shrugged and spoke. "Sure thing, not a problem. I was just unaware that certain levels of Dark-Hearts can handle wearing a robe. Wasn't sure if it was even possible but, I guess it is." "Indeed... Now, let us proceed with our goal." Upon hearing this Rabid nods his head as he brought his gun to the front of his body. Ludi simply rolled his shoulders back as if preparing for a fight. Fate looked at his hooded Dark-Heart and pointed at the two on the opposite side of them. "Keep them alive, kill everyone else." "What!" Rabid and Ludi shouted together. The human was flushed with such anger as Ludi took two steps towards Fate, stopping in his tracks as the Dark-Heart merely stepped once and a surge of wind rushed out from his body. "That wasn't the plan, Fate." Rabid comments as he readied his gun, trying to decide who to fix it on. "Find the artifact before it kills everyone on this ship. Once you locate it contact Cross-Faith and he'll come to you. Once he has it and it is off the ship my Dark-Heart will leave immediately-" "And how do you expect him to get on this ship? Hex has a magical barrier around it. No one can board this ship by any form of magic or power-" "That is why you two are splitting up. One will search for the artifact while the other finds the cursed scroll that is keeping this ship protected from outside forces." "This wasn't the plan, Fate!" Ludi shouts, cutting off Rabid who was going to speak again. "Not all of them are blind to our cause. There are still some that can be converted to our-" "If you two wish to die alongside them then I welcome you to become my enemy. As I stated before, I will not allow my enemies to share the same air I breathe. I will eliminate and destroy any and all who stand in my way. That includes any and all Royals who come against me... Either you find that artifact and get it to Cross-Faith, or my Dark-Heart kills everyone on this ship and retrieves it himself." Rabid and Ludi could only glare as they weighed their options. "Which one you want, Rabid?" "I'll take the artifact." "Thought so..." Suddenly a loud thunderous boom echoed as two flashes of lighting lit up the room. The two of them were dressed in their own robes, Ludi's hat changed into a hood, which covered more of his face than the hat did, making his identity and species even more of a mystery. They both took off in full sprints as they started to headed up the stares. They heard a loud crash which caused them to stop and look behind them. A large hole could be seen, which started to suck out the barrels near by. The Dark-Heart was the only person standing there, which made them think Fate caused the hole in the wall, using that as some kind of exit. Suddenly the ship jerk violently as if it was losing altitude. Once they both got their footing and regained themselves they noticed that the Dark-Heart was gone, as well, another large hole was created on the ceiling. It looked like the being shot straight up towards the main deck. "I know this isn't a good time to ask but its going to kill me if I don't know... What is so dangerous about Fate's Dark-Heart?" Rabid looked at him for a moment, then fixed his eyes on the stairs in front of him. "They're called Enemy Class for a reason. These Dark-Hearts are the strongest, yet they come at a high price. The more you feed into them the stronger they get. The catch is that they become their own entity. They slowly strip away parts of you, taking your mannerisms, your thought process, your character, until finally they completely consume your entire being... In short, they kill you, and only hang onto one part of you that gives them a reason to live or a driving force... The process can't be undone either." Ludi thought for a moment as he heard all this. He shifted his eyes around, as if trying to remember something. "That grin of his..." He spoke softly at first. "That was the first time I've seen Fate grin like since-" "Since he first spawned his Enemy Dark-Heart... No else could see it, either that or they ignored it, but I saw it grin that same evil-grin back at Fate when it first came forth. It already found its one thing to hang onto." "His smirk?" Ludi asked with a tilt of his head. Rabid shook his head for a moment before speaking. "His psychotic path of destruction..." Ludi shook his head upon hearing this, thinking this wasn't going to end will if this Dark-Heart did take over Fate. "Come on, we have our tasks set in front of us. Hopefully we can complete our mission with no one dying on this ship." With that said the two of them raced up the stares and split up once they reached the top. They could already hear the sounds of battle as they were coming up, knowing the Dark-Heart was giving the Guardians more trouble than they could handle. |
