 Be warned: the first episode isn't the ideal one to judge the show by. The first two episodes (the opening two-parter, basically) have an entirely different tone from what I've seen of the rest of the series. Much more story actually happens, for example, and it seems (vaguely) serious by comparison. So, yeah. Be cautious with passing judgement at this point.
