 I'm going to agree with Finite, if you guys truly are good friends, I think casually asking about it isn't going to hurt your friendship in anyway. I've never been one to take too many risks but I also hate the "What if" feeling more.

Your best bet is to just go for it. If things don't go your way, don't fret.
