Yep.
Well alrighty. I'm not sure why didn't i post this before but whatever.

So, here's the story. A few months back, there was a virus spreading around Skype, a particularly nasty one. If you caught it, it would automatically send a message to every person on your Skype contact list, asking if "That was your skype profile pic", along with a link. The link, once you download whatever is inside it and open the file, you'll get the virus too. It doesn't sound too bad, except the fact that the virus has a lot of trojans in it that can screw your computer up. Worst of all, it was a pretty recent virus so most antiviruses didn't detect it.

I happened to be one of the unlucky people that got it. After a few days i confessed to my parents.

Now here's where the issues come in. My brother, happened to have another Windows XP system. With that, he installed it and got rid of the virus before it did any significant damage to the laptop.

Now, this system he installed..after that was done, in only 20 minutes i noticed some problems in it.

Games..didn't work. They just didn't. The 3D ones at least. Most 2D games worked perfectly, just like before but the 3D games had a lot of lag in them, and the graphics looked odd as some things had black borders around them, and things like trees looked weird and flat.

Now, i doubt it's the fact that i don't have DirectX installed or my specs are not up to date. I'm gonna note that before i installed in this system, when i had the previous one, games worked incredibly well, better then i expected. I could run generally any modern game, just as long as i didn't have it on the max settings. It's only after i installed in the new system, the games refused to work.

I can also prove, it's not the virus' fault. When i discovered the problem with the games not working, we tried to install in a Windows 7 system about a month later. Games worked just as good as they did before the virus hit me and i had to install in a new system. However i had to switch back to the crappy system which couldn't run 3D games because the modem didn't work on the windows 7 system for some reason...

Now that i know it's the faulty system's fault, the solution is clear: I gotta buy a new Windows XP system. However, god only knows how much will take that. We're not poor, but by any standards we're not rich either. All of our money goes to bills, food, my bro and other general things you shop for. Even if my bro gets some cash, it's still not enough for a new system as considering how long it's taking so far, i presume they cost a lot.

So, my question is: Does anyone know an alternate solution to my problem? Is there even an alternate way to fix this besides buying a new system? To sum it up for those who may have not paid attention, my system is absolute junk, it cannot run 3D games, they lag and objects have odd black borders around them, and i'm sure my specs and drivers are up to date.

So yep. I'm eager for anyone to answer me.
