Chapter 12: Finally, Unlimited Madness

"The Dark Lord, did you say?" A robotic voice speaks through the darkness. Its red eyes glowed as they rested upon Rabid, who was bound to a chair with shackles around his ankles and wrists. The only source of light was coming directly above him, shining down on him while the darkness of the room hid the other red glowing eyes that peered at him from the blackness. It seems like this was some sort of trail, and Rabid was being accused of something. He sighs as he lowered his head, hiding most of the scares on his face. Even so, there was plenty of blood on his cloths and dried out wounds on his body. His jacket was missing, along with his rifle.

"Yes, the Dark Lord..."

"And how did Lilfate come to obtain-"

"Look! You want my side of the story or not! How he got the damn thing in him doesn't pertain to what happened!"

"But you knew of this. You and a few others knew that within Lilfate laid a demon of sorts, capable of causing far greater destruction than what happened."

"Look around!! There is nothing left around here! Lilfate, no matter if he was the Dark Lord or not, wouldn't have done this much damage!"

"Correct... It would have been worse-"

"God damn it, do you want my side of the story or not!" The robotic being took a moment before answering. Seeing Rabid's aggravated expression puzzled it.

"Go on..." It spoke, to which Rabid calmed down as he lowered his head a bit.

"After we awakened the Dark Lord, the Darksiders didn't have a chance... Nor did we. We tried to stay out of its way, which seemed to work for the most part. While it-"

"It?" The robotic being cut him off. Rabid lifted his head as he glared upon the red glowing eyes.

"While he dealt with the Darksiders we took the chance to catch up with No Data and Enemy. Through his destruction we managed to break No Data's pocket realm he tried to trap us in. He called it the Mirror Surface. The white void shattered like glass. We realized that we haven't moved away from the Head Quarters at all. We were right next to the South Tower in South Island, ironically."

"Releasing the Dark Lord freed you from your prison, but also brought calamity upon the entire-"

"It was our only choice of stopping No Data..." The robot didn't reply, as if saying Rabid was allowed to continue by simply not saying anything.

"We reached the spell chamber-"

"Spell Chamber?"

"Yes, the spell chamber. Some of our members here do use magic and spells. And we were on South Island Library. It was given that name for a reason..." Once again the robot did not reply. Rabid sighs, becoming annoyed by its interruptions, which seemed to happen more as Rabid pressed on with his story.

"We found Shift there, floating in mid air above a large well that was filled with memory particles... Through Lilfate's mind and infecting him with Madness, he was able to link all of us who were captured, to which our memories were scattered into a false realm that replicated our own... Like being in a dream within several more dreams, or lies rather."

"Inspection..."

"Far from it... No Data created a false reality in all of our minds that was built in his pocket realm. Everything Lilfate thought, all of the worlds, everything all around our memory selves was a lie, built on our reality... Over our reality. That entire time we spent in those capsules was really in No Data's prison-"

"Clearly... Shapeshiftress, what became of her." The robot interrupts, this time to get Rabid back on track from where he left off.

"All of our memories were used as an energy source to summon the goddess of madness. We arrived a little too late though..." Rabid's voice became softer and raspy as he swallowed hard and lowered his head more.

"Continue, Rabid." The robot commanded. He ignored the robotic being for a moment as he got a hold of himself and proceeded.

"There was a lot of energy following into that room. A lot of orbs of different colors glowing. It was a stone room, no statues though... She looked peaceful floating there." He lightly smiled as his eyes became watery. He cleared his throat as he tried to look somewhere else, but no matter where he looked there was darkness, or a pair of eyes staring back at him.

"A beam of light shot through her body like a bullet. She screamed so loud it nearly popped by ear drums. Another voice followed her scream. It was louder than hers. Soon, her voice was drowned out as her body began to change. Her hair turned gold. Her eyes were solid green. Her skeleton structure grew silver skin. An aura surround her which started to grow. It quickly took form a female being with her in the center. It was a like she was stuck in a hologram of a radiant female spirit... The goddess of madness herself. Shift was controlling this aura of the goddess while the goddess herself was already within her. We tried to stop the process of the takeover. None of use were thinking as we charged and attacked anything that could stop this from happening-"

"You of all people know that interrupting such a ritual-"

"I know that! What would you expect me to do! She was in danger! It was either kill her in the process or watch that thing consume her entirely! There was no time to think!"

"So you were willing to kill her in order to prevent the goddess's full awakening-"

"Yes!!"

"You could have made things worse-"

"I know that! But I did what needed to be done for the sake of everyone else-"

"Just like you killed Lilfate to prevent the madness from spreading-"

"I knew he'd come back alive!"

"But he didn't, and instead you brought forth something far worse than the goddess herself-"

"I was trying to save us!"

"You were trying to die while bringing everyone else with you-"

"I saved EVERYONE from a horrid fate!"

"You lost the lives of those involved, destroyed half of your Head Quarters, your home, killed two people in the process, and shattered the worlds you were suppose to be guarding. Because of your actions you caused more chaos than No Data or the Dark Lord himself could ever hope to conjure-"

"I eliminated the enemy! I cut the head off the snake-"

"With a nuclear missile that wrecked and ruined everything in its path..." Rabid's tear and sweat filled face could only stare in anger, in sadness, in rage, and in sorrow. Calming his heavy breathing from all the shouting he did he swallowed deeply as he eased up and lowered his head once more. Nothing was said afterwards. He remained silent until his breathing was back to normal.

"We were quickly swept aside by the goddess... We didn't have a chance of winning. I could still hear them screaming. Pedruben shouting at Fenroar, agreeing on their next strike plan despite their wounds. Pianta teaming up with Ezekail while Kammy joined them. Josh used all his strength, keeping his distance from the others because of his powers. I knew we couldn't win this fight-"

"So you gave up-"

"I gave it everything I had... I watched as everyone was beaten down and smacked around like tiny ants... He had won... No Data had harnessed the power of the Madness Goddess and was going to consume it for himself. I realized this once I carefully looked around. The spheres hanging around, the symbols, the markings, the engravings on the ground. I saw it all and what it would lead to, and yet I was helpless to do anything... Then he showed up."

"The Dark Lord..."

"Yeah... Only I didn't know No Data had planned for the Dark Lord to be awakened. He was the final key. By now Shift was completely consumed by the goddess. No Data wanted more than just her. He wanted to harness the power of madness while fusing it with the dark energy of the Dark Lord... Creating a power so great none will be able to stop it..."

"Dark Madness..." Rabid lifted his head a little, eyeing the robotic red eyes for a moment before he continued.

"The Dark Lord and The Madness Goddess fought brutally, until they both stepped into No Data's trap. Once they were aligned and set in their proper place the spell was triggered. Dark energy was being sucked out of Lilfate, while the goddess was being ripped out of Shift. Both of them screamed so loud. All I could do was watch. By the time I even willed my body to move they both dropped to the floor... Dead..." Rabid paused for a moment, feeling his emotions rise as he closed his eyes tightly to hold back any tears from flowing.

"If all of this happened then how was No Data defeated? Where did all of that power go?" The robot asked. Rabid didn't answer right away. He cleared his throat once more as he lifted his head up a bit.

"Enemy is called enemy for a reason. He betrayed No Data by summoning the one being No Data can never defeat... Threat... Triple333Threat as some call him. Before No Data could obtain the power he stole Threat suddenly crashed through with a small army of DarkThrees..."

"Darkthrees...?" A slight tilt of its head made Rabid realize that it didn't know what DarkThrees were, or it was confused how Rabid knew about them.

"Threat's minions, in other words..."

"How did you come across this information... I only know of one being who knows of the DarkThrees..." Rabid didn't reply. He sighs, to which he ignored the robot and continued with his story.

"No Data and Threat fought for a while. Their battle was taken else while Enemy took this chance to harness the power of Dark Madness... It was a sight to see... The strong winds, the howling and psychotic laughter of Enemy, his glowing yellow eyes, his white skin turning silver, his hair transformed into black fire, and his voice was more haunting than before... He looked at his hands, enjoying the feeling he felt I assume, and once he was done marveling at himself he turned to me. I'll never forget the words he spoke... After that he started to walk towards me-"

"Rabid... What were the words he spoke to you?" Rabid didn't reply. He only stared at the ground for a moment before speaking again.

"I could see the blood lust in his eyes. I could feel death all around him, closing in on me. He reached down and lifted me up by my shirt. He stared into my eyes with his evil grin. My heart was about to explode. Either that or it was about to burst out of me. He placed his hand on my chest. My heart stopped the moment I felt the grip of death squeezing the life out of me just by a simple touch... So I thought anyways... Instead of death, I was granted life... Instead of weakness, I was granted power... Instead light there was darkness... Instead of sanity... There was madness..."

"Rabid..."

"You know what he told me, when he looked into my eyes... He spoke three words, and then told me later that these words would free me from the clutches of his enemy, of my enemy..."

"Alert the guards, order the Containment Force."

"Finally, Unlimited Madness...." Suddenly an explosion roars out which blew up the entire room. Rabid's skin was silver while his hair was longer and made of black fire. His cloths were dark purple as his wounds started to heal and close up. He rushed out of the room and entered into a hallway. Robotic figures soon advanced on Rabid, to which he lashed out a strong energy attack that sliced through the hallway and tore through the robots. He burst into flight down the hall, turning right and continuing down as more robots tried to stop him. He shouts, releasing a powerful burst of energy that erupts and tore the hallway into pieces. It was at this point that Rabid realized he was on a carrier of some kind as wind started to flow into the hallway from the chunk that missing. Ignoring this for the moment Rabid pressed on, until finally he tore through a steel door and slid to a halt.

"Rabid!" Pianta shouts. He spun around and noticed everyone was in a energy based cell.

"Shift and Lilfate are in other cell... They haven't moved at all since..."

"Don't worry about them, they'll pull through." Rabid tells them. He placed his hand on the cell door and suddenly it shattered like glass. Once they were free he moved over to the next cell and did the same. Fenroar quickly picked up Lilfate while Pianta scooped up Shift in her arms.

"Don't tell me we're going to make a mad-rush to the hangar and hopefully escape." Ezekail comments. Rabid looked at him for a moment in confusion.

"How did you know we were in a ship?"

"I was a space pirate... Well, one of my fake memory selves were... You get the point." Rabid shook his head lightly while rolling his eyes.

"I have a better idea." Suddenly part of the ship explodes, causing another huge hole in it. The group coughed as smoke covered them before it was sucked outside.

"What are you crazy!! We're not jumping all the way down there!" Josh shouts as he looked out of the hole in the ship. Below them was South Island Library, or what was left of it.

"No! I'm not crazy! I'm mad! For a short time anyways!" Rabid replies. They all looked at him for a moment. Truly he was mad, thinking they'd all survive a fall like that.

"On three!" He shouts. Everyone tensed as they staid close to Rabid. He started to count, slowly to give them time to prepare.

"Three!!" With that said they all jumped, sky diving down towards the island in hopes that Rabid had a way of making their landing a safe one. The island got bigger the closer they got. And soon, they were about to touch down. Rabid burst forward ahead of them. Using all his might he slammed into the ground which caused a huge cloud of purple smoke to rise. Once they were caught in this cloud gravity seemed to be absent. They slowly drifted down until their feet were gently on the ground. Soon the smoke swirled about and formed into Rabid. He remained still for a moment, until he gasped and started to cough. His skin turned back to normal as did his cloths and hair. He dropped to his knees coughing a bit more.

"Hey! You alright?" Josh shouts as he hurried over to him. Rabid just nods his head, containing his cough as he sat down.

"Guess my little trick depleted whatever Dark Madness I had left..."

"Rabid... How did we survive all this?" Pianta asked. He looked at her for a moment, then fixed his eyes on the air craft above. It suddenly explodes with a great boom. The force of the explosion reached them as a light rush of wind.

"Enemy... He betrayed everyone, yet in his betrayal we managed to be the only ones to luck out. We were just pawns in his little game with No Data... That ship we were on was No Data's fort... He had already obtained the Dark Madness, not sure what he needed on his ship... Anyways, he spared our lives so we could lead him to No Data. He had a way of cloaking the ship from Enemy, until he used the Dark Madness he put in him to track the ship. Knowing No Data would take us in he figured it was his best shot of reaching him..."

"What about Threat? I thought I saw him show up." Fenroar asked as he set Lilfate down. Rabid looked at Lilfate for a moment, almost as if he was silently apologizing.

"I don't know... Enemy didn't talk a lot, nor did I think that was the best time to ask questions. I was thinking I was a dead man at the moment."

"What about Lilfate and Shift?" Pedruben interrupted, figuring that was the most important thing they needed to discuss.

"They're fine... So says Enemy... I believe him too..."

"What about Lilfate and Shift?"

"Teh, they're fine. Believe me, I wouldn't kill off Odin, no matter how much I want Thor dead... I'm just your regular Loki..."

"Rabid?" Kammy interrupts his thoughts, to which the human looked up at the vixen as he snapped out of it.

"What do we do now?" She asked as she helped him to his feet.

"We can start by getting these two some medical attention... Then we'll rebuild this place and inform the Emperor of this event. I'm pretty sure he is well aware of what happened, but our insight might help..."

"So we lost... Didn't we...?" Ezekail states the obvious. Rabid looked at him with stern eyes, as if he didn't want to be reminded of that fact.

"Maybe... We'll just have to wait and see... For now we can rest and continue our duties. No Data is gone... One less worry we have on our hands... Look, I don't have all the answers, I only know that lies I was told, as do you... Lets focus on what we need to focus on, and forget about that happened." Once that was said he walked over to Lilfate and picked him up. He started to walk towards their medical facility as the group followed behind him, Pianta carrying Shift on her shoulders.

"I'm sorry, Lilfate... I hope you can forgive... I hope you'll understand that I'm not crazy... I did what needed to be done, and I'd do it all over again if I had to... It'd be madness for me not to..."
