Chapter 10: THE Enemy

Ting! Cling! Crash!

"Raaaah!!" Taylor's fury continued to rise as Lilfate seemed to be toying with him now. Each swing of his scythe-like staff missed it's mark. The most aggravating aspect was Lilfate's lack of fighting back. His twisted and evil smile beamed back at Taylor, as all he did was dodge and never attack back or even counter attack for that matter.

"What's wrong? Not fast enough to hit me? Ooooh, I thought you were the alpha memory. Ha! You don't even know what that is, do you? Or did you steal that phrase from someone else's memory." He paused his taunting for a moment as he began to dodge more, seeing as his words enraged Taylor even more.

"My boy, you really shouldn't be stealing memories from others... Oh wait, it can't be helped I guess... Ha, how pitiful-"

"Fight back and we'll see who is the pitiful one! Unless you can't because all you can do is wave that sword and create your dumb-ass characters!" Lilfate vanished from sight after dodging another swing, then quickly reappeared in front of Taylor while leaving a decent sized gap between them. With his smile still present, he shook his head and sighs, waving his hand dismissively.

"You're ruining my fun, Taylor... Besides, I'll start getting serious when you do. This isn't all you got... So when you're ready, show me your true strength. Then, I'll show you how weak you are compared to me." Taylor only narrowed his hateful eyes upon him, listening to every word as he tried to figure out the hidden meaning in what was said. Suddenly the flames covering Taylor vanished as he lowered his head. It was unclear if he was thinking, or preparing to do what Lilfate wanted him to do.

"...Banka-"

"Bwahahaha!!" Lilfate roared in laughter, taunting Taylor even more as he slapped his knee and laughed harder. After calming himself down quickly, he wipes a tear from his eye and chuckled a bit.

"Oh man. Goooood one, Taylor. Very good. Sorry to disappoint you, but that wont work. You're not a shinigami... You're actually above them, like me! So something as redundant as a 'bankai' form isn't present in your being. No, no. You have more control than that. More demand of power than that. You have the memories of countless people, giving you an endless amount of power... I didn't think I'd have to spit it out for you. Thought you'd be smart enough to figure it out by now... Oh well. Now that you know, give me everything-" Lilfate stopped as Taylor's body started to glow white. His smile spread across his face as he continued to watch Taylor. Black flames covered his body, but this time the flame's tongues were longer, and swayed at their own steady pace, regardless of the wind.

"Now we're talking..." Lilfate comments, sliding his feet into his fighting stance. A burst of energy roared from Taylor, making a haunting howling sound as harsh winds whipped about. Within seconds Taylor was in his face, swinging a black energy based scythe with incredible speed. Lilfate managed to dodge just in time, but he wasn't prepared for Taylor's next attack that came too quickly. A loud clash was heard as he lifted up his sword just in time to catch the scythe's blade. The tip of it was inches away from his neck. This only made Lilfate smirk as he noticed Taylor's power was awaking.

"At this rate, Lilfate will die within a minutes." Anti-Ezekail spoke, to which Anti-Pedruben just shrugged.

"I doubt it..." Anti-Josh voiced his opinion.

"Lilfate still hasn't unleashed his full power."

"Nor has Taylor... He is only using half of his awakening power. Lilfate will need to use every ounce of his power just to match Taylor, while Taylor will continue to rise in power and eventually overtake him." Anti-Pedruben tells them as they watched Taylor continue his assault, taking note that Lilfate was struggling more and more as Taylor advanced.

"Come on, Taylor!! Hit me already!!" Lilfate shouts as his eyes started to glow a gold color. Taylor continued to use his speed more than his strength, which Lilfate was too worried about dodging and blocking to figure this out. Finally, Taylor made an opening and used more strength then speed. Blood gushed from Lilfate's chest as he was rocketed through the air. He gagged in pain, coughing up blood as he quickly caught himself in mid-air and began panting while holding his chest. His eyes pulsated between his normal eye color and his glowing gold eyes, signalling that he was trying to maintain his power level with Taylor's.

"Teh... Not bad..." He comments, then wipes his chin as he stood upright. He closed his eyes as he smiled lightly, nervously.

"Time to get my head in the game..." He comments, then takes in a deep breath and slowly lets it out. His eyes flung open and revealed something that shocked everyone who was watching. Lilfate's right eye was a solid green color. His expression was even more twisted, filled with a psychotic vibe that only brought chills.

"Bankai... Fated Kingdom..." A loud explosion boomed from Lilfate, tossing everyone back expect Taylor who was only moved slightly. The wind force of the power being released was starting to rip apart the buildings near him. Within a matter of seconds this powerful force stopped, allowing silence to settle in. Once everyone regained themselves they looked towards Lilfate. It seemed like only his attire was changed, and his hair. He had a long ponytail reaching down to his lower back. He wore a thick blue cape, one that resembled royalty. His dark blue and yellow garments were shining in the sun, hints of gold trimmed his shirt and pants, while his arms and legs were clad in knight-like armor. The armor was white as snow, matching his large white ice-like blades. They had no hilt, just the blades glowing as Lilfate gripped them tightly. The blades were six feet long and generally massive in size. The bottom of the blades narrowed to a sharp point.

"His eye is green..." Ezekail starts off, knowing the other shinigamis around could hear him, as well as their anti-forms.

"Anyone with a green eye was presumed to be infected with the madness..."

"Assuming Lilfate is the reason for the madness to begin with, it is safe to say that he using the madness to give him more power." Josh explains, taking a blind swing here and simply stating his theory.

"Or worse... Lilfate was the first one to be infected, and managed to control the madness to the point of using it to give him power. However, most powers have a down fall. He must be reaching his limits, the green eye being a result of that." Rabid comments, to which the others looked at him a bit confused.

"It isn't impossible that Lilfate is just a pawn. This whole time we believed that Sednams was created by someone. What if we got it wrong? What if Sednams always existed?" Upon hearing this the others were rendered speechless.

"He was let out of his 'box' long before you could remember." Anti-Pedruben spoke up, drawing everyone's attention to him. Most of them didn't know he was way up their with Anti-Josh and Anti-Ezekail.

"Once phase two is complete, you'll find out who let the jack out his box... Lilfate isn't going to last very long." He adds, to which they switched their attention back to Lilfate and Taylor. This whole time the two of them didn't move. They remained where they were, staring each other down until the other one moved. Lilfate still seemed to be nervous, as if knowing he wasn't going to last very long. Taylor on the other hand wasn't even Taylor anymore. His entire appearance seemed to change. The black flames settled within him, turning him into a dark evil looking being.

"Teh... Lets get this over with-Gaaaaaah!!!" Lilfate suddenly shouts with horror. Everyone looked surprised as they saw a white blade pierce through Lilfate's chest. The sword was quickly pulled out, and suddenly swung with blinding speed. Lilfate was motionless. It was like his body didn't comprehend what just happened to him. Slowly his head started to move, to which it suddenly rolled off of his shoulders and dropped towards the streets below. His body followed afterward, revealing his killer which shocked everyone to their core. Pure white skin, long white hair, yellow haunting eyes, white katana, white hakama, and a white baggy v-neck short sleeve shirt.

"Teh... Pathetic..." His voice echoed in a haunting manner, complementing his evil smile. This was the one person no one was expecting to be here. The was the one person no one wanted to face.

"Enemy..." Rabid comments to himself with anger pouring through that single word. Enemy tilted his head as he looked at Rabid.

"Surprised? Heh! You're all dumber than I thought."

"Of course... Lilfate's anti-form-"

"Damn idiots... Don't even know a single damn thing..." Enemy cut Josh off. This made the hedgehog a bit angry at his insult. Instead of snapping back he traded his pride for answers, figuring Enemy was going to spell it our for them.

"If you think THAT low-life was Lilfate, you obviously can't tell a fake-persona from a real person. Not to mention who you really are your selves..." Enemy paused for a moment, taking in their confusion with a bit of delight.

"You're all fake..." He comments, to which they all stared sternly at him. Most of them believe he was simply trying to trick them, confusing them even more, yet at the same time they believed him. However, they needed more information than just three words.

"Its so stupid... The ones you've been fighting, your 'anti-forms' as you called them. They're more real than any of you put together. I brought them here, thinking they would be save from the madness that was spreading... Turns out I was wrong, for once... Or rather, he decided to change the plan on me and curse them by using some kind of memory bond bullshit..." His eyes shifted from person to person, noticing them didn't believe a single word he was saying. He rolled his eyes with annoyance.

"Fine, I'll prove it to you-"

"Ah-geh!" Ezekail's eyes widen as they stared into the heartless eyes of Enemy. His sword was plunged into the left side of his chest, where his heart should be.

"Don't worry... You're not real anyways..." Enemy tells him, feeling horrified eyes beam upon him as he pulled his sword out of him and watched as his body descend to the ground below. Didn't take long for his body to hit the ground and exploded into tiny particles.

"Darksider Ezekail... You still here?"

"Pretty much..." Anti-Ezekail replied to Enemy, smirking a bit as he knew what the purpose of this demonstration was.

"Without Lilfate, the Darksiders are no longer tied to you fake-personas... Seriously, since when did any of you wear kimonos..." He comments, smiling a bit more as he watched the particles slowly ascend to the sky.

"Every time you 'eliminated' a world by extracting everyone's memories, you sent their memories into one place... Memory Island... Every time you kill one of my Darksiders, you turned them into grains of memories... This entire place is built on the mind of one person, and you guys continued to feed him more and more... You idiots followed a fake-version of L on a crusade to turn every single world into one giant island... You were never the cure for the infection... You were the virus... Every time you set foot into a world you infected it with your very presence... Until you came along." He tells them, turning his head towards Taylor as his eyes glowed yellow.

"You were the only thing standing in the mad-man's way... I don't know how he did it, but he managed to send a savior... Just in case I failed... Teh, piece of shit didn't think I'd be able to do it... Whatever... The point is, you were created to stop this damn madness... But that fake piece of crap figured it out and stuck that damn thing in you." Clap! Enemy had appeared in front of Taylor in a blink of an eye. No one saw him move expect Taylor, who caught his arm as Enemy seemed to try and grab him.

"Teh... You think you're faster than me?" Enemy comments, eyeing Taylor with a evil smile. The two of them fixed their eyes on each other, Taylor waiting for Enemy to move while Enemy was taunting Taylor with glowing eyes. Finally Taylor's body jerked as he felt Enemy's hand rip through his chest. He didn't even react to this, nor did he have time to move his arm up to stop Enemy like he did just a moment ago.

"A little secret of mine you should know... The closer I am to someone, the faster I become..." With that said, Taylor's eyes widen as he felt a burning sensation in his chest. Suddenly Enemy ripped out a red and black stone from Taylor's chest, causing him to shout in pain as he leaped back and placed his hand on his chest where the hole is. Taylor's heart was racing as he felt something within him stir awake. It continued to move within his being, as if racing to surface to be unleashed. He quickly lifted his head as he heard a crunching sound. His eyes widen a bit as Enemy had crushed the stone that was in him.

"AAAHHHHHHH!!" Taylor screams in pain as a blue substance burst out of the hole in his chest. It was a thick liquid that seemed to have a mind of its own, as it howled loudly at Taylor before spreading out and covering him. Taylor screamed even more, his voice changing into a echoing roar.

"What the HELL did you do to him!!" Josh shouts and moved forward. However, Darksider Rabid stepped in front of him, daring him to move by narrowing his eyes. Josh remained where he was upon seeing the hostility in his eyes. He was angered and confused as Taylor continued to scream at the top of his lungs. The blue substance continue to engulf him, until finally it covered his whole body and started to form him into something else. Taylor was transformed into a dark blue statue. Engraved on it was a symbol, or rather a being of some kind. It looked to be human but more advance, like a guardian of some kind. It was a lot bigger than a human as well. The stone-like statue floated for a moment. It quickly dropped towards the streets below and landed with a loud boom. It didn't even crack upon hitting the pavement.

"Huh... Forgot about that cocoon part... Whatever..." Enemy comments, then turns around and smiles his evil smile as he flops down in a sitting position in midair.

"While we wait for the master key to open the door for us, let me explain the situation for you idiots... Lilfate, along with everyone else, has been captured by a deity of some kind... The deity is called Sednams, god of illusion and despair... The shape-shifting prince of madness. A long time ago, me and another person found his temple where he had been hidden away for centuries. We only found him because we managed to uncover it while exploring the Darksider realm. Then came you guys... Not you here in front of me, but the real you... They fought us in attempt to 'protect' the worlds from their evil halves. All thanks to Lilfate for not keeping his damn mouth shut. In their stupidity and lack of knowledge of the Darksider realm, they stumbled upon the temple and nearly awakened Sednams... Instead, they sealed it off and had Sednams's tomb moved into a place no one would ever look... Right under South Island Library... This is why they had patrols around South Island. But of course, the higher ups wouldn't tell them why patrolling that area was important. They figured the less your real selves knew the better... Only idiots think like that..." Enemy paused for a moment as he tried to keep calm. The next half of his speech pissed him off to no end.

"When they deiced to banish me and the other Darksiders to a god-forsaken spit of a world, they were one person short... Even though they imprisoned us, they forgot one important detail... I'm... NOT... Lilfate's Darksider-" Enemy's attention was fixed on the stone below him, hearing a large crack which caused his evil smile to return.

"Cutting to the short version... Lilfate's Darksider awakened Sednams... But his purpose for doing so is far worse than you could think of... Be happy I managed to escape that hellhole they put us in... Other wise you wouldn't be able to save your real selves..." The stone cracked even more. As well, a bright light-blue light was shining through the cracks in the stone. Pieces of the stone started to fall off, and suddenly it explodes as a beam of light shoots into the sky.

"Hang onto the something... Its about to get bump-" Boom! the sky shattered into millions of pieces as the world itself started to shake and crumble. Enemy continued to laugh the entire time, his evil voice matching the destruction going around them. Suddenly a large explosion thunders loudly, causing a ringing in everyone's ears and blocking them from hearing anything else. The world shook more violently by the second. Finally a blinding light engulfed them completely, smothering their very appearance into nothing but light...

"Huh!" Rabid uttered, hitting the ground that seemed to be soft yet firm enough to cause him a bit of pain. He slowly picked himself up from the ground while shaking his head to get his hearing back. Eventually the ringing slowly died down as he began to look around.

"What on earth is this?" Josh comments. He was on his feet already and looking at a large cave structure. It was nighttime with very little stars out. There weren't any clouds in the sky to block the stars, they were simply not there.

"The sand..." Rabid comments, looking at each grain as they glowed. He scooped some in his hand and carefully looked at it, realizing the grains were transparent with a blue sphere-like light glowing in it.

"They're... Memories..." He adds, to which he realized where they were now. However, it seemed like it was just him and Josh. Looking at the massive cave structure Rabid nods his head.

"Come on... Lets not keep Sednams waiting."

"But... What about Taylor, Enemy, and the anti... I mean, Darksiders...?" Josh asked as Rabid joined his side. After thinking for a moment Rabid shook his head.

"Our real selves are in there... And knowing myself, I wouldn't want my fake version waiting around to save my ass... We go in and give it our all, or die trying... We're already dead anyways. Or rather, we're not even suppose to exist... We're just memories..." He tells Josh, to which the hedgehog looked at the cave for a moment as he took in what Rabid said.

"Right... Into the heart of madness we go..."
