It's from La-Mulana. Bahamut is the great fish from classical mythology, not the draconic imposter from Final Fantasy. (Thus the raft.) The battleaxe is one of the better weapons I can use, and there's a combination of programs my character can get on his laptop that, if he runs them both, every weapon except for one becomes a smidge more powerful, and the axe is one that's improved.
I also had a fairy to heal any wounds I'd incur, but she left before I took any hits. |

| So I bested Bahamut with nothing but a battleaxe, a raft, and a magic laptop. |

| It was a few minutes or so before Asher arrived as well, presumably with Toby and Gabriel not far behind. "Howdy, guys. And Rue, I hope you're not telling everyone my ride's an 'ancient piece of crap' again," he said, his eyes narrowing. "Since that... is an insult to crap," he finished, a serious expression giving way to a small grin as he sat down with the rest. He sighed, taking his hat off and running a hand through his hair. |

The chamber is featureless white, filled with faceless figures curled up and nearly blending into the walls and floor. Except for one. Except for you. By touch, you're able to get yourself to your feet. All you know is that you shouldn't be here, something bad will happen if you stay. No. Not quite all. There's another reason you have to get out of here. As you focus on why that is, you feel like a mask peeled itself from your face. You open your eyes, though there's nothing to see except white, white, white... Steeling yourself, focusing on the one fragment you can recall, you take a step away from the faceless mannequins, into the unknown. If you look back behind you, the chamber you awoke in, with its other inhabitants, is gone, replaced by a featureless corridor, still white, white, white. Turn again, the hallway stretches the other way, too.
He'd been paid for the job, and he wouldn't let anything stop him from finishing it. It just wasn't done... He looked down at the featureless white garment that covered him, except for his face, it felt like, making him look almost like some kind of mannequin, and scowled. He had a job to do, and he was certain that job wasn't here. |

| I'll figure it out; we've got the premise pared back to something we can work with now. It's all a matter of building it up and posting the thing. |

| Even simplified, this is a difficult premise to work, to be honest, especially with Wolffe's insistence on the "there can be only one" clause. I just don't see a good way to make that one work right... |

Well, all these ideas are good and all, but I feel they're really taking more and more away from the basic premise here.
Which is, to wit, the players are trapped in an artificial combined mindscape that shifts in structure according to the perceptions of those wandering it. The players all have lost (or more accurately sealed) memory of how they got there and who they were. I don't think we should be populating the environment with things that are lifted out of the memories they no longer have. |

The more I think about how to make this work, the more I'm convinced I can't make it work as envisioned.
I know I brought ideas to the table, but I'm bailing. |
