Killzone 3 pictures and details leaked!
New news, the environments will be COMPLETELY destructible. KZ2 had destructible environments but only certain scripted spots, not everything could be destroyed.

Killzone 3 pictures and details leaked!
Can't wait, Killzone 2 was the best FPS of 2009! There's even news how the graphics engine is being co-developed by Naughty Dog! Barring God of War 3 and Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2 still has the best graphics on consoles and heck Killzone 2 was ever so slightly behind it.

GamePro magazine’s got an upcoming feature on Sony’s Killzone 3. It’s just leaked onto the Internet. Hang on – Killzone-what-now? Killzone 3! Oh – you mean the game that was going to be announced at E3 but’s now been outed early? Yeah, that Killzone 3. Oh well, there’s another surprise ruined then – but the details are no less juicy.

Perhaps the biggest deal, as per the rumours, is that the game will support full 3D (alongside Sony’s upcoming firmware update and their new Bravia televisions). But not just any 3D – oh no – this is the killer-app for Sony’s tech. We’d heard mumblings that Killzone 3’s implementation of 3D would be a game-changer, and that’s exactly what’s stated in this issue of GamePro. Exact words: the 3D implementation is “crazy”. Nice. In addition to the 3D features, the game also includes jet-packs.

Thankfully, while Sev and co are back, the game will focus much more on Helghast culture. We’re not alone when we say the Helghast are by far the most interesting part of the Killzone lore, so we hope Killzone 3 ain’t all about Rico and his “rad-ass” buddies.

We’ve included a whole list of details after the jump (via Gamespot), and screens can be found through here. Consider it an early-E3 present. Who gives magazines these exclusives? They ruin everything.

* Will show the Helghast have humanity left in them
* Will have the feeling that “of being in a place far away from home, outnumbered by people who want to kill you.”
* Will be like Inglorious Basterds.
* All of the characters in the screenshots are flying in.. jetpacks?!
* Will include arctic levels.
* One mission in the game involves rescuing ISA Captain Narville.
* Game is playable in 3D
* Have to wear 3D glasses, apparently the 3D effects are “crazy.”
* Combat is “unchanged from predecessor.”
* Or is it? Hand to hand combat involves you “Unloading a string of different (and often brutal) attacks on stunned enemies.”
* The scale is supposed to be “bigger this time.”
* The Jetpacks are “surprisingly lightweight and agile, Killzone 3’s jetpack is easier to maneuver compared to the sluggish incarnations of the gadget found in other games.”
* New weapon called the Wasp, basically shoots a “flurry of rockets” at an enemy.
* Will show off the Helghast culture.
* There is actually a Helghast language, which will be explored in the game.
* Will have “diverse locales.”
* Have to sit in the center of the 3D tv for the 3D effects to work.
* 3D in this game is called a “Game Changer.”
* Going to have “Intense Action”
* Jetpacks double as a weapon, which basically means a machine gun mounted right on top of it.
* If you shoot Helghast with jetpacks, they’ll “explode like roman candles”
* To control the jetpack, you “have to activate bursts of speed in midair, propelling yourself across further distances.”
* The Jetpack resembles something you’d do in platformers such as Super Mario Bros. Or Uncharted
* In one mission, you have to use the jetpack by “launching yourself from glacier to glacier”
You’ll see “a lot of” snow levels.
* Everything is more spread out in this game.
* The game looks very complete.

Axl Rose Slams Irving Azoff In $5 Million Countersuit
It seems that they keep getting sued... Preventing the release and/or continuation of more music. :( This makes sense, their new album had NO promotion whatsoever. It sort of just happened with no warning only the fans knew of it.

AXL ROSE SLAMS IRVING AZOFF IN $5 MILLION COUNTERSUIT

Tue May 18, 2010 @ 12:08PM PST

By Eriq Gardner

EXCLUSIVE: Axl Rose says his former manager tried to implement a scheme to force him to reunite with the original Guns N' Roses band members and, as part of the plot, failed to properly promote the "Chinese Democracy" album, lied about a prospective Van Halen super tour and mishandled the band's tour dates.

The claims are part of a bombshell countersuit filed yesterday against Irving Azoff's Front Line Management. In March, Azoff sued Rose, claiming the rocker violated an oral agreement to pay 15% of earnings, or nearly $2 million, from a lucrative concert tour.

Not since the G'N'R song "Get in the Ring" has Rose struck back at a foe so forcefully, alleging antitrust concerns about Front Line's parent company, Ticketmaster, to drive home a major claim that his former manager is up to no good in the music business.

Azoff is CEO, director and majority shareholder of Front Line, whose roster of artists include the Eagles, Neil Diamond, Jimmy Buffett, Christina Aguilera and John Mayer. In 2008, Front Line was acquired by Ticketmaster.

Rose claims that through Azoff's control of the "trifecta" of artist management, concert and touring promotion, and ticket sales, Azoff has been able to gain wide influence and power in the music industry. Azoff allegedly decides what artists he wants to promote through favorable touring deals and uses his power to punish artists and harm their careers if they don't follow his orders.

When informed of the myriad allegations in the countersuit, Azoff's lawyer Howard King quipped to us: "He didn't accuse Irving of being on the grassy knoll in Dallas on November 22, 1963?"

The countersuit invokes the U.S. Justice Department's recent antitrust lawsuit that sought to stop a proposed merger between Ticketmaster and Live Nation over concerns about the new entity having too much control over artists and venues. Afterwards, Ticketmaster entered into a consent decree with government regulators to allow the merger to continue under certain operating provisions.

Axl's counter-complaint says that Azoff is violating the consent decree by coercing and bullying artists to do what he wants.

What Azoff wanted, the rocker says, was the reunion of Guns N' Roses. To execute this, he would sabotage Rose and his new band so that Rose would have no option but to reunite.

According to the filing, "Upon realizing that he couldn't bully Rose and accomplish his scheme, Azoff resigned and abandoned Guns N' Roses on the eve of a major tour, filing suit for commissions he didn't earn and had no right to receive."

Further, Axl says the botched tour cost him money in production startup and rehearsal expenses. Claiming breach of fiduciary duty, constructive fraud and breach of contract, the singer wants at least $5 million in damages.

The cross-complaint was filed by Skip Miller and Sasha Frid at L.A.'s Miller Barondess.

Sales has everything to do with the subject because if the Wii wasn't as successful as it is, (i.e. had it not nearly outsold both the 360 and PS3 combined), especially in comparison to its failure of a predecessor, this would not even be a story; No one imitates the loser. Both companies think they can make more money, ie. sell more stuff, by trying to ride the Wii's coattails, thus here we are with Natal and the Move.

No, because it does not effect what I was talking about. Selling more does not mean you have the capacity to make more high-quality games, it's all about how much of a work force you have.

Casuals will not suddenly buy PS3s and 360s in droves just because of the Move and Natal. The 360 and PS3 have developed their reputations as hardcore consoles versus casual ones this generation, and a console and manufacturer's reputation will always precede the games and peripherals.

Have you learned nothing from Apple? If you market it well, you can sell anything in droves. Casuals will not buy PS3s and 360s just because of these peripherals, no, but if you add a decent marketing campaign behind it and have what these casuals want they will be interested in trying it out and more inclined to purchase it after they get a taste of it. Are you forgetting the one main factor of casuals? They aren't loyal to crap like the hardcore gamer, they'll go wherever they think the "next big thing" is so reputation and brand means squat to them.

The Playstation brand has a reputation for having diverse games that cater to every audience, it is not a solely hardcore console and I don't think anyone sees it as solely hardcore with all of the quirky and weird games that have come out for it. The only reason some of these casual games on PS3 haven't had success is they weren't marketed. LittleBigPlanet was and that is one reason it has sold so well.

You said that Nintendo knew they couldn't compete with Sony and Microsoft game-wise when they are in the only thing that ultimately matters, the element you ignored-- Sales.

Selling a lot does not equal quality or a quantity of quality games. Microsoft and Sony sell enough to make money back on their games and that combined with producing many high quality games is ultimately what matters to gamers. Sure you can bring sells into the argument, but it has nothing to do with the subject at hand. The Wii has had a handful of great games, but in comparison to even the GameCube I'd say it is lacking. The GameCube had a lot more decent to good 3rd party games and I really liked the GameCube.

As for casual gamers only wanting casual games which is a majority of the Wii's catalog, I think Sony could get the upper hand if they support the Move right because the Move will undoubtedly not only get casual games(including Wii ports) but also hard core games(Socom 4 for example). This way they can attract the Wii crowd and attract the current PS3 fan-base, thus drawing in a more diverse consumer base.

Playstation Move
Uh, sure... Most of those top selling games are old games too or bundled. None of the Wii games in the top 10 are of this year. Most people are content with the few games that come out by Nintendo, that's why a game that is two-three years old can still be in the top 10 and has not been buried by tons of newer hyped games. Compared to the 360 and PS3, the Wii just hasn't had the same amount of quality games imo. Most 3rd party games on it are PS2 ports, spin-offs, shovelware, etc and Nintendo has not been pumping out tons of games in comparison to the competition. An example is 2008 when Nintendo's only heavy hitter was Brawl the WHOLE year. Brawl was excellent, but both Microsoft and Sony had at least 5 games of the same quality that year.

Notice how I did not bring sells into it? Of course they are selling better. I don't think they can dip into Nintendo's pie yet either, but if they market it correctly they can easily steal thunder from the Wii because, like I said, it removes any uniqueness that the Wii had over the competition. The Move is just a more advanced version of the Wii so if the Wii crowd loves motion controls, I see no reason why they would not at least want to try the Move. It remains to be seen if they think it will be worth purchasing though.

Also not every person who owns a PS3 abhors motion controls, especially if it has games that they like. Many PS fans love Ape Escape and that is a flagship title for the Move. It is also a title that is appealing to the Nintendo fanbase, so it has potential to lure many over.

Playstation Move
Well, there is NO problem with bumping in this forum as long as the info is relevant and creates discussion but since this is already here I'll keep it here.

As for the Move, it is also way more accurate than the Wii and tracks in 3D. There are some games already out that will be patched with support for the Move such as Resident Evil 5 and LittleBigPlanet. I remember some others, but not off the top of my head.

If they market this correctly, they could really hurt the Wii. Pretty much the Wii's only unique quality is its motion controls and now it will no longer have anything to offer that the competition does not plus the Wii hardly gets any good games outside of Nintendo's own studios and those are far and few between. Nintendo knew they couldn't compete game-wise with Sony(or Microsoft), because Sony has over double the in-house studios which is why they seeked alternative ways to gain market share.

Little Big Planet 2!
Here's footage of LBP2 from Qore. http://playstationinformer.wordpress.com/2010/05/12/littlebigplanet-2-qore-footage/

Did you know Media Molecule originally approached Microsoft with the idea for LittleBigPlanet? Microsoft turned them down because of their restrictions on Live so they went to Sony where, as Unreal Tournament has shown, they are all for user created content.

That's just a default banner that I forgot to remove. lol, it won't be there on the final version. If anyone has any ideas and/or backgrounds to be used, it would be appreciated. For the Act 2 background I may have to just capture it from an emulator. :(

Ape Escape PS3
A new game. I know it was one game announced for the PS Move, but not sure if it's optional. I know if it's released in Q2 or Q3 it will have to be optional since the move does not come out till Q4.

Ape Escape PS3
According to their official twitter, Ape Escape for PS3 will be released Q2-Q4 of 2010. I can't wait, the first one on PS1 was awesome. 2 and 3 were awesome also, but I never got to play them as much. I hope it's not a bunch of party games like Ape Academy, but I don't think so. Probably have lots of side-mini games though.

Another +1 for the dying genre of platformers.

We were treated to a First Play of the mind-blowing Little Big Planet 2 - the follow-up to Sony's smash hit which shifted 3 million units.

As well as picking up 14 game of the year awards in 2008, LBP1 has seen 2.3 million ingenious levels uploaded to the LBP community.

Little Big Planet 2!
There are some crude scans of the GI here:

What caught my attention was that you could make full on cutscenes with camera angles and voice overs! This will be the biggest leap of a sequel ever!

The original LBP is now a Greatest Hit, FYI.

8GB? I got to find a 64GB iPod Touch XD but why 8GB? and you should get iPhone os 4 when it releases on summer 2010 and this update is the best this lets you customize that boring homescreen! so update to iPhone os 4 as soon as possible!
Why 8GB? Because it was cheap. How much did you spend for your 64GB? That's what I thought.... :D
