[MAJOR UPDATE] Playstation Network Down

Apologies; I'm still heated from another conversation.

Anyhoo, I don't agree with your distrustful nature of the forum keeping the fraud a mere possibility for you. There are people there who hardline themselves with consoles there, (as there are here), but the people who would be out to get Sony are not the ones even reporting this in the first place. If anything, they'd be the first people banned and several people actually were in the appropriate threads. You say you don't even go to the forum; well, I do. I've been there long enough to get a clear image of who's bullshitting and who isn't, and the situation as a whole has hardly been used as an excuse for the fanboys to come out of the woodwork.
Well quite a few people don't check their statements on their cards. I would assume there were people who probably had statement issues for a bit, and they just bothered to check because of recent events. In this scenario, it would seem like the PSN debacle is to blame when it was something else.

Besides, there have only been a few reported claims of people losing money, and most of those were just anonymous e-mails/forum users with no follow-through to see if the story was legit. I'm not saying that NO ONE was compromised because of Sony's poor defenses, but I will say that online forums are filled with people who are liars and if money was stolen, it doesn't necessarily mean people on forums are the most likely to be hit. Which is why I don't use a forum to assume anything, I will wait till real reports are made of it with evidence.

More than likely, the vast majority of these stories aren't true. But your not going to stop idiots from being idiots. There have already been people photoshopping statements to make it seems like they lost money which fooled everyone until someone pointed out it was a well done photoshop. All I'm saying is trolls can be clever and sound very legit.

I will. But I'm still joining if it goes class-action. One I could use the money. And two this will ensure it doesn't happen again. Plus why change the number if it's still in there. This isn't as simple as changing a number. It's bad enough that it had to come to this in the first place. What pisses me off is that they didn't say anything for a week.

Like I said before, they shut it down and had an outside agency come in and find out the full details. They didn't say anything because they did not know what all had happened and no company or government will make a premature statement saying, "I don't know what happened but prepare for the worst." A law suit won't ensure anything won't happen again, anything can be hacked it just depends on how focused the hackers are.

Game with best music?
Vectorman had some great music, but this topic is about Sonic. ;)

Game with best music?
I can't believe I forgot about Sonic Spinball.... That game had some good music in it too, namely this one:

Wipe it's ass then.

Now that this thread has hit 1 million views, it's purpose has been fulfilled and therefore will be locked. This thread has only been created to see if we could hit 1 million views. Thank you for your participation, we hope you like our next idea for The Shack which is to see if we can make a thread where every post, for a thousand posts, has more than 1 million words.
Just kidding. XD

Steve Carell leaves "The Office"
Jim Carrey would be a good candidate, I think. I never payed much attention to The Office though because I heard you have to follow it from the beginning to get it.

There's a difference from some 15 year old trolls going to places and making poorly-articulated rants against the companies they hate because said company doesn't manufacture a particular piece of plastic, versus multiple people who-- with their posting histories and Google being right there proving that they are indeed ardent PSN users and not simply Xbots in disguise-- claiming that they and their spouses are experiencing credit card fraud from a tangible emergency that has affected millions of people in one of the most notable security disasters ever, an emergency I keep articulating is one in which Sony has essentially admitted to the possibility that credit card fraud is real, an emergency where the government is having to come in and investigate.

And your whole counter to the reality of the current situation is that, "Well, they're all fanboys, so they obviously must be lying about the fraud just to score some e-points"? Seriously, Metallix. C'mon.
Um, wow. Seriously, Bliz? There is no counter to anything, just posting that I don't go there and I don't trust everyone. I specifically clarified that I was not denying any current situation so stop twisting or misinterpreting what I am saying.

Oh hey, Shack is almost at 1 million views.
Interesting, but it doesn't have the most views of any thread. :D Oh wait, I guess it is... The other one(Shack 3) is only at 922k.

Just got a new air intake on my truck. :) More power, better mileage, and sounds even more beastly. XD

And my argument is that your reason for distrusting NeoGAF-- The tendency for members over there to act like fanboys-- has absolutely nothing to do with illegitimizing the claims of credit card fraud.
You do know what fanboys do, don't you? They spend time going to places posting negative things about the companies they don't like, they go to games specifically to rate them low, etc... They spend hours making false claims to discredit and negatively post about companies all the time and it's not limited to video games either.

Fanboys have no limits or morals when it comes to this kind of thing which is why I could see some people that hate Sony making fake claims to shed a more negative light on them. This is a time when Sony is vulnerable and the fanboys will be in full force making sure they do damage. There are places I just don't go due to this because reading/responding to such drivel is a waste of time.

As far as the CC fraud goes, I'm not saying it isn't happening. I'm just saying that I don't believe it is just because someone on NeoGAF says it is.

As for people having their CCs transacted on NeoGAF.... I just don't know, that place is known for the most rabid fanboys the internet has seen. Not saying it isn't happening, but I'd wait to hear it from somewhere else as I wouldn't trust any users over there.
Oh, ffs, stop being such a Sony apologist. The community's hardassed nature has absolutely nothing to do with the reports. Seriously, what kind of e-peen would some of the most ardent supporters of PSN-- the ones that actually use their credit cards on it-- have to gain by reporting that they're experiencing fraud from the network's hacking in a situation where Sony themselves admit it's actually possible cc info was stolen? Seriously; explain to me how fanboyism has a clout in these claims' legitimacy. The Xbots aren't saying it.
Nice, but incorrect. I just don't trust anything that is said over there about anything.

So I got a new vehicle...
Well since I got it I've done a tune up(new cap/rotor, new spark plugs, new wires), put on a much less restrictive flowmaster exhaust & tip, shortened the tailpipe almost in half, and today just added a cold air intake!

It already had tons of power, but now it's even more powerful! It gets to 55 like nothing and it's really fast. :D Plus it sounds really, really good too. Not super loud but it is loud now and just sounds throaty. :)

Hardly. That's about on par as saying that just because Glen Keane animated on Beauty and the Beast, doesn't mean he's actually seen it. I think it'd be more fair to assume that he has unless there's contradicting statements from the horse's mouth. xP
There are many actors out there who make movies but never watch the final product and I think that's more fitting of an analogy. The actors know what the movie is about but knowing what it's about is different from actually watching the final product. Just because he has designed a game, doesn't necessarily mean he has played it.

So yesterday this whole thing made the news down here. They mentioned that your CC details could be at risk and advised that you take appropriate measures. And also how pissed people were at Sony for taking 6 days to tell them something like this was going on.

Lucky for me I've never used a Credit Card to purchase funds (not that I even own a credit card anyway) so I don't have to worry about that. I've only purchased a voucher or two for some DLC. The whole personal information thing is a bit of a worry though. :/

Here's hoping those 15 or so dollars are still in my wallet when it's back up and running.
People are idiots. Sony took 6 days to reveal full details, because that's how long it took to figure out the extent of what happened. You can blame Sony for being slow but the reality is that it was the outside agency they hired that took that long to figure everything out and they consist of some of the most experienced and skilled people in the field...

People think things like this are just so simple when they are not. Sony isn't going to prematurely say something which could send everyone in a panic if they don't know if it's true or not.

As for people having their CCs transacted on NeoGAF.... I just don't know, that place is known for the most rabid fanboys the internet has seen. Not saying it isn't happening, but I'd wait to hear it from somewhere else as I wouldn't trust any users over there.

Apparently the CC data is encrypted so even if it were stolen, it's unlikely that they could decrypt it. The other information was behind a sophisticated security system so it isn't like they did not have good security. Anything can get hacked, it just depends on how dedicated the hackers are to getting in. Good to know they are working with law enforcement, hopefully those who are responsible get jail time.

****ing hackers.... Hopefully someone gets prison time for a long long time. Well it'll be up somewhat soon so not a big deal.

Funny how Bliz is even keeping up with this considering she doesn't have a PS3....

Naughty Dog
Hahahaha.... Sly Cooper was Sucker Punch. Jak and Daxter was Naughty Dog. ;) Jak was awesome though and probably their best cartoonish mascot.
