Fusion Hybrid World Record: 81.5 mpg
Fusion Hybrid Averages 81.5 MPG, Sets World Record with 1,445 Miles on Single Tank of Gas

- Drivers trained in mileage-maximizing techniques achieve 1,445 miles on a single tank of gas in a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid - averaging 81.5 mpg in Washington, D.C. - and set world record for gasoline-powered, midsize sedan

- The Fusion Hybrid 1,000-Mile Challenge proves that fuel-efficient driving techniques can nearly double a vehicle's EPA-rated fuel economy

- The demonstration of the Fusion Hybrid's ultra high-mileage potential also raised more than $8,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

WASHINGTON, April 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Drivers trained in mileage-maximizing techniques such as smooth acceleration and coasting to red lights were able to get an extraordinary 1,445.7 miles out of a single tank of gas during a fund-raising effort in Washington, D.C. that concluded today. They did it by averaging 81.5 miles per gallon in an off-the-showroom floor, non-modified 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, the most fuel-efficient midsize car in North America - nearly doubling its U.S. certified mileage.

The Fusion Hybrid 1,000-Mile Challenge started at 8:15 a.m. EDT on Saturday, April 25, from Mount Vernon, Va., and ended this morning at 5:37 a.m. on George Washington Parkway in Washington, D.C. After more than 69 continuous hours of driving, the Fusion Hybrid finally depleted its tank and came to a stop with an odometer reading of 1,445.7 miles - setting a world record for gasoline-powered, midsize sedan.

The challenge team, which included NASCAR star Carl Edwards, high mileage trailblazer Wayne Gerdes and several Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) engineers, raised more than $8,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) by exceeding the goal of 1,000 miles on a single tank of gas. The Fusion Hybrid's official estimated range is approximately 700 miles per tank.

"Not only does this demonstrate the Fusion Hybrid's fuel efficiency, it also shows that driving technique is one of the keys to maximizing its potential," said Nancy Gioia, director, Ford Sustainable Mobility Technologies and Hybrid Vehicle Programs. "The fact that we were able raise much needed funds for JDRF while raising the bar on fuel efficient driving performance made the effort doubly worthwhile."

Cadillac Converj Green Lighted
Pretty awesome looking!

At the Detroit Auto Show in January, General Motors surprised the crowd with a concept coupe called the Cadillac Converj. Built on the same Voltec platform as the Chevrolet Volt, the Converj was seen as a way for GM to leverage the pricey ER-EV drivetrain in a vehicle that could sell at a premium price, recovering some of the development costs. According to Motor Trend, the Converj has been given the green light for production in 2011, a year after the Volt launches. When we talked to GM's Bob Kruse at the Detroit show, he indicated a production Converj would likely use the same powertrain as the Volt, although it could have different calibrations to allow somewhat higher performance than the Chevrolet.

If the Converj does move forward, the proportions might have to change in order to use the same under-structure as the Volt. However, the larger stumbling block to building the Converj is money – or a lack thereof. Unless some kind of deal is struck between the Treasury and Energy Departments to allows GM to tap into ATVM loans, there won't be enough cash in GM's coffers to build the Converj.w.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/04/cadillacconverjdd_09-580op.jpg[/IMG]

Favourite Music Country.
Um, Idk... I'd say the United States and the United Kingdom. The U.S. has tons of bands and so does the U.K. I don't know much about bands from other countries though. I know that Holland has Golden Earring and they're good.

^This. I've played some games with humor, but this is the only one to make me laugh. When General Fox is insulting Whiptail, it's freaking funny. :D

Battle of the Boards
Um, I'm pretty sure we're out. Round 2 has started and we're no where to be seen.

Battle of the Boards
We only got three measly votes for this.... :( Last time we had like freaking 40. WTF!!?

New rule for RP suggestion.
So two or three max is what you guys want? How will we enforce this though? Will people be looking out for people who start many of them and report them or something?

Oh trust me I know, but I really liked 3, and even 2 with it's cutscenes wasn't quite as smothered in cinematic surfacing only because the DVD format and hardware didn't permit the overclouting.

But you're right in saying that both are pretty notorious for it.

I just call a game that is more movie than actual game is overrated when it is as popular as the MGS series is. Simply put, if people can call the Master Chief and Halo overrated simply for being universally liked in most areas, I can call Snake and MGS overrated for being also universally liked and being interactive movies as a series over being true "climatically proportioned" games.

Another horribly overrated game in my opinion, and I can see that my belief is shared in this.. is Super Smash Bros Brawl. Because it is fun to play when you first pick it up sure.. but that shine quickly goes away with faulty network play and little to do once the SSMB is beaten. The stadium creation feature is cheap at best and it isn't the type of game that can really keep appeal on it's own for years to pilot a console without any other game aid. Flagship titles like Halo 3/Gears 2 for the 360 and Resistance 2/ Killzone 2 can all survive and maintain playability while also using decent to above average online playing to keep the taste in the players' mouths fresh.
Well I agree with you about MGS. I like some of the action in it, but even the gameplay wasn't that great.

I don't like stealth games all that much and another one in similar fashion to MGS that I absolutely hate with a passion is Splinter Cell. I remember when the first one came out on the Xbox and it was all the rage. When it came to PS2 I decided to rent it to see what it was like and it fell flat on its face for me. Just too slow and too boring. Meh.

The Blu Ray format really has nothing to do with how long the game is though. How much space you have does not equal length because there were games longer than lots of next-gen games on PS1 using one CD.

Metal Gear Solid 4... why? Because as I've said all along it is more movie than it is game. If I want an interactive movie I'd buy one.

I don't care if the story is amazing because I buy a game to play, not to sit through 22 minute cinematics that explain beyond what needs explaining.
You might as well just say, "The whole Metal Gear series" then. :P
Not nearly to the same extent because it never got that bad on normal DVDs and the old software. MGS3 was a great game, it had a lot of cinematics yes.. but it was nowhere near as ridiculously video oriented as the 4th installment was.
It may not have been as bad but the whole series was like that and MGS2 rivals 4 in long cinematics. The ending was almost pure cutscene aside from a small boss fight. I remember beating MGS2 and was just like, "when is this crap going to be over?". The cutscene wasn't really that interesting and was just as long as anything in MGS4.

The only one with no really long cutscenes was the first one, but even then it had some longer than standard ones and long codec sequences.

Tekken 6 for PSP, Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny
Soul Calibur finally coming to PSP! I can't believe the support PSP is getting. It's like it relaunched and is getting games announced all the time. I honestly never thought it would get so much support and that's one reason I upgraded to a PS3. Hmmm, I wish I could get one. Maybe when I get a better job.

Couldn't you have just used this one. But yeah I also wonder how this will actually work. Perhaps it's to make it more convenient for each different user. I really don't know, but that's the most relative answer I have.
Sorry, I thought you were talking about a different game there for some reason. :P lol

MAG Developer Interview

The game looks ace overall... Way better than I thought it would look considering the 256 players and previews have been surprisingly very very positive. Some sites are already proclaiming it could beat Modern Warfare 2.

Quote from edge: MAG is fun. In fact, it's massive fun. It's fast and loose, free-flowing, improvisational, spectacular, structured without being too rigid; it accommodates lone wolves, team players and power-trippers alike, and makes it easy for players themselves to direct the action. You'd expect it to be intimidating, but it actually feels like the FPS for everybody. Even after just one 20-minute, 128-player match, it's hard to shake the feeling that, one day, all multiplayer shooters will be made in its image.

Quote from Joystiq: From a personal perspective, I've got to say that I came away impressed. I'm a long-time Battlefield player and love first-person shooters as a whole, and MAG nailed it in all the right places for a competitive shooter. A solid framerate ("at least 30fps at all times"), no lag, responsive controls, a great command structure, and a persistent world where your actions contribute to your faction's ultimate goal of ruling the world, makes for what could be the top shooter of the year, on any console. Modern Warfare 2, I hope you're listening -- this is the one to beat. "

This is one of the reason why Tesco and other supermarkets own ASDA ( Wal-mart ) in UK.

But seriously, that's kind of a dick move if you ask me, sue the **Bleep**s I say. It's USA afterall right? You can sue anyone for anything.
I'm thinking about suing McDonalds because their Iced Coffee is too cold. I mean seriously!! There's no warning! I didn't know it was that cold when I accidentally spilled it on myself.
Nice to see you're attempting some hyrony, Metallix.
But if I wanted to, I could sue McDonalds for that. I'd surely lose the case, but I could.
Well I think my idea could work. Some idiot got away big for suing McDonalds because their coffee was too hot. Heck they even got money for suing McDonalds over getting fat and blaming it on their food. :D

I'm going to get really fat, start eating at Subway, and sue them for making me skinny! I don't want to be like Jared, I want my weight to attract the ladies. :D

Comebacks
Well when someone says, I don't know, "The *insert something here* called, they're running out of *insert something here*" the perfect come back is, "Yeah well the Jerk Store called, they're running out of you".

Dragon Age: Origins.
I wonder how this will work out. How can they have different controls for each platform? Unless they mean Sixaxis for PS3 and Mouse/Keyboard for PC, but somehow I don't think that's what they mean.

Quote:

Dragon Age: Origins is to have controls specifically designed for whichever of the game's three platforms gamers choose to play on, BioWare has told VG247, meaning players should feel as though the title was made for their system. The fantasy RPG will release simultaneously for PC, 360 and PS3 later this year.

“We’re really lovingly crafting it for all platforms, so it feels like it’s made for your system,” said BioWare boss Ray Muzyka, speaking at GDC.

“It’s got the same depth and accessibility on every system, but the control system is going to be customised, and is being built so it feels like it’s the system it was designed for.

“If you’re playing it on 360 or PS3, you’re going to feel like you’re getting a great, really accessible, rich, story-driven fantasy world, and on the PC you’re going to feel that you have the archetypal fantasy experience of Baldur’s Gate, BioWare-style RPG that fans have come to know and love.

“We want to deliver something that’s going to fit both audiences.”

E3 for this one. Expect EA to push very hard later this year.

Uhh...shit. Voted for the wrong one >_< Sega of America, definitely. Sega of Japan made Sonic 06, and that speaks for itself...
So what? Sega of Japan made the original Sonic Adventure.
