People need to get with the times anyway.

Seriously, who uses IE anymore?
*smacks him over the head with the flat edge of a longsword* Says you who still uses the Imperial system and refuses to adopt Metric measurements.

This looks most useful. I shall have to try it. AND WHO SAYS I CAN'T ADD MYSELF AS A FRIEND, MY MULTIPLE PERSONALITIES WILL GET INFERIORITY COMPLEX AT THIS RATE!

"Uh, yeah, sure we will TUC."
Dude... When you say a kilometer I really have no idea how long that is, but when someone says a mile I have a good idea of the length it is. Why adopt something because it's easier?

Anyway, on topic... You are not your friend. :P

"Old Topics" Rule?
I don't know... Most forums don't support it at all unless they are very small. I don't really agree with warning someone over a useless bump anyway. I say just delete the post and close the topic or delete the post and PM the member about the rules.

Archie Sonic Video Game
An Icon? That I would disagree with, unless you just mean an icon to the Sega corporation and not to the public. He isn't advertised or in the media anymore than any other character. If anything, the general media does not even mention or care about him anymore. Also the general gaming public views him as washed up. I still like Sonic games, but that's just my observations.

SB Friend System!
*barf* I don't know whether or not to keep it since it does have quite a few bugs and isn't compatible with Opera or older IEs than 8.

Well, we all have to remember that its mainly new people that bump old topics. And your all forgetting, not every new person that rolls on in here is use to NOT having to worry about being warned for bumping old topics.

In short, it might of been okay for them to do so one another forum they went on and aren't use to having to check to see if a topic is old.

Also,Daniel White is right. Many topics in the sonic channel, or the other 'talk about sonic' forums, have been bumped and restarted the topic discussion wise. I'm sure you could fine a few of them in one of those sections(everywhere else I can't really say I've seen this, save for rps but they always get locked unless the rp creator bumped it themselves.)

So yes, I agree with both parties here. He was banned for spamming, and not bumping old topics. But still, he did get a warn for bumping an old topic, unless I've read the information wrong.
Most forums don't even allow you to bump topics older than a few months. I don't think anyone comes here expecting that bumping topics is ok unless they are completely new to forums. If anything most people would not bump just because everywhere else doesn't allow it.

Reviews are just paid advertisements?
I agree with everything you said Bliz. :) I wish people didn't really take Metacritic so seriously. I mean... Metacritic allows and omits the same site differently everytime. Sometimes G4TV(for example) is included in one game's overall list and next it is not. It's flawed.

The highest score list is flawed too. Zelda is #1 at 99%, but it only has a few reviews. Now days there are nearly 100s of reviews. If Zelda had had tons of review scores I doubt it would equal out to 99%. In the high 90s, but not 99%. Also GTA4 is no where close to 98%, most gamers agreed that it was disappointing or just above average in the 80% range. Considering that Gamespot's original score for GTA4 was 9.5 out of 10 then after a few minutes went to 10 out of 10 is proof enough that no score has any real merit.

I tend to look at gamer reviews and see what real gamers like. It's not too hard to pick out fanboy reviews from honest ones. Usually ones that say "this is an honest review" are fanboys, but not always. I've been able to sniff them out. lol I tend to go with word of mouth rather than media hype scores.

Archie Sonic Video Game
So? Outside of the fans, the games aren't popular anymore and Sonic is no longer a public icon with today's media or even gamers. Maybe Archie isn't as popular as the games of the past, but they are quite popular. I just thought it was preposterous to compare Archie to Marvel like Sonic is on Marvel's status anymore.

Is the fact that only twelve "friends" can be viewed at a time on purpose?
The reason I thought it would be good is that everyone has their friends listed in their signature, this way it's more official. :P

Also it does appear to have a few bugs in it, but it works. I see more than 12 friends in Blair's profile.

SB Friend System!
Well, we now have an official friend system. Next to user profiles is an option to view a said person's friends and also add them to your list.

Quote:

Code Name: Friends System
Description: A friend system to where you can add your friends to your own friend list and view anyone else's friend list. From there you can also Delete any friend on your list that you wish. Or add as many as you'd like. :)
Preview: Preview
Register, then you can Add/View/Delete friends to your friend list. :) It works on the topic and profile pages.

Copyright: slayer766
Known Bugs: Internet Explorer 8 only has one flaw, and that's the profile feature - it won't work. Google Chrome, after you add a user to your friend list, and then try to view your friend list again it doesn't show your added friend - all you'll need to do is refresh and it will show. :)
Browser Compatibility: Testing in Google Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer 8.

I know it's the longest running game-based comic, but the success of it is still comparatively outmatched by even what the first Sonic game did for Sega. I suppose a comparable image would be the comic finding such a mass appeal across the world that it gave Archie as a whole a market share and name credibility that was bigger than Marvel's.
Um, that's ridiculous. One comic series will not give name credibility to the likes of another company with huge history and many good comics. Why do they need market share again? I don't see why you care anyway, Archie Sonic is fairly popular. What's the beef? You don't like Archie?

Sega needs to start paying them then

I wouldn't be surprised, concerning the amount of people who buy and play games based on their reviews, I really wouldn't doubt it.
I doubt Sega has the money to pay most publications off. I also forgot to mention that the major review publication in Japan(Famitsu) has only given a handful of perfect scores in its entire history and most of them are from 2007 and beyond... If that doesn't proove that gaming journalism is a joke nowdays, I don't know what does. Games certainly haven't gotten significantly better in recent times, there have always been stellar games no matter the era.

Reviews are just paid advertisements?
We already have proof that Gamespot has used(and probably still does) cash from publishers to influence a review score. Do you ever get the feeling that most reviews are just paid for advertisements? With the inconsistencies of review standards (some docking points for one aspect, which goes unnoticed in a like game with similar attributes) and proof that major publications take cash for scores, I just can't help but see most reviews as a paid advertisement.

How else do you explain when a majorly hyped game gets huge reviews but most gamers don't like it? I've always seen that, but I've never really seen a game yet that got poor reviews having the major population think it's good. Probably because if the company doesn't supply them with cash, they review it on its own merits? Gaming journalism seems so shady now days.

Lets just have this as the general discussion for opinions on journalism related to gaming.

PS3 sold out on Black Friday!

I actually went to Walmart at 3 AM on Friday to pick a bundle up for a family member. It took me 4 hours in line to actually get a bundle. It came with some Batman game and another game called Infamous. The line was ridiculously long.
Infamous is a great game, lucky you for picking it up. :) 4 hours is a super long time though, I don't know if I'd have the patience! I stood in a line for 3 hours once just to turn in an application(yes there were that many people applying) and I don't really think it's worth it anymore. I'd rather just show up a day early with a tent. :D

I was just reading about this earlier but it appears that even with the Black Friday rush that the PS3 can't rival Windows 7 as far as positive reception upon the beginning of sales. In comparison with one of its own titles as far as reception goes, it can't light a candle to Modern Warfare 2.

"It does everything" Everything? Well, take two aspirin and call me in the morning when they're capable of playing the likes of Counter-Strike Source, StarCraft and other PC exclusive titles. Matter of fact, call me when they put Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 on it and bundle an overpriced keyboard with it.

Well call yourself when any console can do that. The slogan is obviously not meant to be taken seriously, it can't toast your bread or make breakfast for you and you can't compare it to Windows 7 either... Modern Warfare 2 is a disappointment to many who were fooled into the hype. Besides Uncharted 2 got better reception than MW2, MW2 is on PS3, so.... your point?

Favorite Sonic Series?
Adventure and Rivals... Adventures did 3D right. Rivals went back to the 2D gameplay but didn't sacrifice the 3D graphics.

I'm going to use it, just because I asked for it. Ha ha!
It looks nice though. Who's the secretively maker of this skin then. When it wasn't you?
The maker of the skin is Nicola of the ZB Theme Zone. Pretty good and she's one of the best skinners I know of... Imo, of course.

Global warming conspiracy uncovered?
Hahaha! While I don't think pollution should be condoned and that we should help protect the environment, I really doubt we are warming the planet in any unnatural way.

Black Friday Deals Thread
I wasn't able to get anything good on sale... It was all swooped up before I got there. Oh well, not too terrible as I only was looking at getting a Dualshock 3.

PS3 sold out on Black Friday!
These bundles were only offered for Black Friday which was announced yesterday... The Best Buy bundle is different from the Gamestop's version too. Every major retailer had a different bundle practically, but like it said a few stores might have some left but most are gone.

PS3 sold out on Black Friday!

This week has been a great week for gamers and entertainment fans alike with the unbelievable deals of hardware, games and accessories. Only yesterday it was revealed that BestBuy, GameStop and other large retailers were going to provide the PlayStation 3 Slim 120GB model with 2 games or more for the standard price of $299. As expected, sales of the exclusive Black Friday bundles have been staggering as consumers across the country rush to get their hands on Sony’s next-generation platform.

The exclusive PlayStation 3 Black Friday bundles have officially sold out nationwide. Amazon, BestBuy, GameStop and Walmart are all reporting a total sellout both online and in-store as well. It only took roughly 8 hours for the bundles to sell out, and while a few remote retailers might still have a few bundles available, the future looks grim for anyone who is interested in picking up a bundle and hasn’t already.

Sony’s PlayStation 3 console has managed to sell record numbers worldwide since the official Slim announcement back in August this year. With the PlayStation 3 Slim once again on the top of the hot seller list of Amazon.com, this holiday season is already looking to be an outstanding success for Sony.

Man, everywhere I went the deals were sold out. :( I went to two radioshacks and called 5 of them and all of their Dualshock 3s were sold out. They were only $29.99... Oh well.
