Nintendo talks about the future.

Right now, I view the Wii U as to what happened with Sony and the PlayStation 3 back when it was first released. Both released new systems but are rather complicated and didn't exactly offer much aid for third party companies, both developing nasty and cocky egos. However, the PS3 has definitely turned around after a while, ended up becoming the best system of the last generation in my opinion.
Except the PS3 never sold was poorly as the Wii U is now and was double the price. That said, I wouldn't worry about them. They can turn it around like they did the 3DS. I don't think they'll have a wild success like the Wii but I could see them selling 40 million units by the end of its life. It did just have its best month ever in the U.S. for December.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
Now that is one cool trailer!

I... didn't know there was a Ratchet and Clank movie coming out, too.

Despite that Sly looks a bit different this clip got me smiling and laughing in excitement. The animation's so good. Ugh, I should really replay the entire series again.

Yeah here's the trailer.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlqqGXH83qA

The animation and humor are both appealing to me, and I'm happy to hear they'll make adjustments to the models as time goes on. Overall I think this will be a neat film - hopefully it will help breathe life into the franchise.

It also makes me speculate if there will be a Jak film in 2017 next... also makes the idea of a Sonic film believable given that Sony seems to be wanting all the video game movies.

Some bad news about this movie - I guess it's confirmed Kevin Miller won't be reprising his role as Sly. Shame. :(

Kevin Miller not being it is a shame but I don't see a big problem. The other VO sounds pretty similar.

I saw the trailer for this somebody posted on Facebook last night. Pretty excited for it honestly. Even though I've only ever played the first game, and that was a long long time ago. It was still fun and I liked it so I'm looking forward to the movie and will definitely go see it in theaters. I can't wait for all the people who don't play games to be like "Whaa wut is this?"

I'm also wondering if it's gonna be mostly based off of the first game, or what the story is gonna be doing in this movie. The story in the first game, I thought, was really well-rounded and I can see it being a movie easily. And I too hope Carmelita is in it, she's awesome.

Yeah there'll be a lot of people who watch this that didn't know it was a game, especially since it isn't that widely known about. Sly got buried under hype of Ratchet and Jak. Still it's a universe I see lots of people enjoying.

Eh... not sure how I feel about the art style, specifically Sly himself as it doesn't look much like him. Appears to be different VAs too but I'm more fine with that.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'll probably watch it eventually.

Meh, I'm OK with Sly's design, It's the other two that look a little off to me.
Bently looks like he just stepped off the set of Creature Comforts and Murry looks like a reject from Kung-Fu Panda's TV series.

Sly and Bentley look fine to me. Murry looks kinda weird but that's just because it's different than the game. Apparently Sony/Sucker Punch are very involved so that's good. Also they chose the CG route over Cel Shading because it didn't work very well for the big screen. They also said they will improve the characters as time goes on.

There better be a Carmelita in this movie or there will be hell to pay!
Agreed! Although I doubt they'd make it without her, she's been in all the games.

Sly Cooper
Oooooooo so now not only is there a Ratchet & Clank movie(2015) there is a Sly Cooper movie coming in 2016 to theaters! Hope it's good, looks to have the same humor that Sly always has. I know Insomniac are working with them so maybe just maybe Sanzaru is working with them too? Kinda makes a new game seem like a likely possibility.

Anyone remember Soap shoes?

I can picture some sweet acrobatic trick right into a grind. Ohh man, this is definitely a shoe I would invest a 100$ into. Brings back those Sonic Adventure 2 memories so much. ^^
Realistically it's harder than you think. Well for me anyway. If you're an aggressive blader it would probably come easy. You gotta have good balance and it's easy to have your feet come out right from under you. That only happened to me once but I was being super careful most of the time. Also landing it right in the middle can be hard... I had it several times where I'd jump onto a curb and land on the rubber part instead of the grind plate. lol I used to have a practice rail to use too but it was only 5 feet.

What's the weather like?
The weather here in California is pissing me off. It's January but we're in the low 70s.... It should be cold, it should be raining, it should be snowing... But nope... Drought and being robbed of my winter!

Stop Spreading Lies About The Forum.

What's really been pissing me off lately is that people keep going on and on about the forum 'dying.' while it's true that the forum is seeing decreased activity (school, interests taking people elsewhere), the forum is by no means dying. New people do find a home here, topics are made and the forum still has activity.

What then is the definition of the forum dying? Is it because they look back through the rose coloured glasses at their interpretation of the forum's past and think that what we had back then was better? Is their view of the past perhaps creating a bias on what they see in the here and now?

I would say yes. I challenge those of you who think of the forum in this way to consider that a community does not thrive on those who simply coast to their own tune. A community thrives on those who contribute to it, who add to it, not those who simply expect to get something out of it without doing any of the above. I say those who say the forum is dying are simply not doing enough to ensure that the forum is all that it could be.

Honestly, I am getting sick of people who keep spouting and spreading this lie. This forum, and the community that calls this forum home, could be so much more if you actually did something to help out, instead of decrying your interpretation of its status. We do not need that caliber of drama. I say do more and do better, or get out and stop infecting others in this community with this depressing fantasy.

I apologize about this thread (whether it needed to be a thread or not), but it's how I feel about this, and I feel it needed to be said.
I agree. I wouldn't say it's dying, I'd just say it needs more of a group effort to jump start some areas that are lacking and it's what I've been trying to do and have tried to encourage others as well. I just suck at motivating people....

There's no question our activity has slowed down but has it really? Like you said it's rose colored glasses. We used to get almost 30k posts a month but was it real discussion? No. Most of it was spam while core sections went barely touched. In reality the activity didn't go down, just the spam did, which is neither good or bad...

I want to dedicate more time to this forum but it's hard with no computer of my own. I want to ask what people think we could do for promotion of this forum.

What Are You Playing?
Currently just trying to get through Tales of Xillia. I am a huge fan of the series now, can't wait for Zestiria. Not sure I want to get Symphonia Chronicles or Xillia 2 though.... 4 Tales games in one year? Might be too much! lol

User Groups/Rank Information
Just a new look to higher level groups.

BlazBlue
Never played this series but it is a series I would like to try. I've heard about the games but never knew they got released in North America.

User Groups/Rank Information
Right..... I updated the groups a bit. Changed some of their names and added a different font to the higher up ones. Also tried to add some new perks. Any ideas on how to make this ranking system even better?

Lol.... Well anymore questions, people?

Wait, about what year are we talking about here? When Sonic Adventure 2 was released, I wasn't even two yet. :XP:
Haha yeah that's when these shoes were popular. I was 13 when SA2 released. I still have three pairs. One very used, another moderately used, and one still brand new. The brand new pair are my prized possession. They aren't available anywhere anymore except ebay for $215... And very rarely show up on ebay.

Although a company called Sequential Brands Group bought out Heeley(which own Soap) and a very dedicated following has been emailing them over and over asking about Soap and apparently they're due for a comeback this year! How exciting!!! I will definitely buy some if they bring them back.
