[Solved] Skin Maintenance?
Fwiss
Jan 29 2011, 08:24 PM
A friendly reminder to the admins, I've noticed there are some links in some skins that aren't available in others. Is anyone thinking about fixing the skin's links anytime soon? Ex. Arcade is dead, remove the link. Also, the Sonic Blast Affiliates page has some dead links might want to check that out.
That has nothing to do with the skins... Just the links. I'll get on it soon.

It's going to be a pretty good bit thicker, of that I am certain..

and yes it is technology that has SORT of been done before. But just not this small, any time you have advanced tech crammed in a small device, it will come with a price.. and all of this power combined with touch screens and cameras and such.. I can't see the cheapest model being any less than $399 and that's a generous dumb down of what the price will likely be (probably $459 to $499). There's no way it will be on par with the 3DS as far as price is concerned because there just isn't that horsepower in the Nintendo handheld, and the PSP will likely be the more online functional machine which will drive its price up.

Codemasters is just saying what Sony gamers want to hear.. The Sony I know rarely sells products for a loss.. let alone a HUGE loss.

It is actually less thick than the original PSP and that is going by official specs. It's only longer and taller. All of this technology has been used in mobile devices in some form or another before.

As for the power of it, you do realize that many mobile devices already have better graphics in them than the 3DS? The 3DS is as powerful as a GameCube/PS2 if not slightly more but even that is behind current mobile technology. I'm not concerned because Sony is using off the shelf parts for it, they're just using another companies chips that are already in production.

Apparently you don't know Sony very well at all. Sony always takes a huge loss on their consoles. PS1, PS2, PS3 all took a loss. The PS3 took a $200+ dollar loss when it came out(it was $600 when it was over $800 to produce). PS1 took a big loss to make it $100 cheaper than the Saturn.

They will take a loss on it and it probably won't be as astronomically expensive as you claim. $400 is just not realistic. Realistically the low end model will be $250 to $300. You do realize that the original PSP was just as far ahead of its time in power when it came out and was only $250 right? In 2005 the PSP was a beast and had mind-blowing graphics for a handheld.

The OLED and Flash-based storage is what sexes me up for this console. Touchscreen is good. They're going all out. That seems like it would cost like $1,000.00!

The only thing that concerns me is the OLED screen but I'm fairly certain that the iPod Touch uses that screen. Flash-based storage is pretty much the same thing the DS uses, but I'm sure this will have a much bigger storage capacity. I personally was hoping for a Mini Blu Ray or something.

Heh, of course there ALWAYS has to be an evil hot chick int he mix somehow. XD Anyways, I want his game nowz!! I wish the first FF XIII had this type of game play. I'm a fan of KH, so yeah, differently want this game. And did I see him using a gun!! Epic!! :D Having said all this... NOOOOOOOOOOOO PS3!!! What the heck!! I don't have a stupid PS3! Hopefully they'll be smart and bring it to xbob360... That would be awesome...
It's unlikely, but anything's possible. You should just get a used one if money is a problem, they're cheap on Craigslist. Plus you'll have one for the inevitable Kingdom Hearts 3... Unless that just skips to the PS4. lol

Sonic 2 beat in under 20 minutes!
Using glitches of course but this is absolutely flabbergasting as to how fast he does it!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII Trailer
The first official gameplay trailer. Can you say Kingdom Hearts HD? lol It looks similar to Crisis Core and it already looks miles ahead of FF13 and FF13-2. According to Nomura, the combat shown was significantly slowed down and this footage was cut before the game was given a visual boost as well. The game will be 10x more epic when it releases, I just WISH it wouldn't take so long. It was announced in 2006...

Not a full QWERTY keyboard and touch screen functions. D:
I cant STAND phones that dont have a keyboard and not in QWERTY format! I mean, how do you expect to type!?

Unless its where you press one button several times to get one letter, then thats fine, though i still cant get use to it.
I agree, I require a full qwerty keyboard and that's what I got. :)

Are you kidding? You could say the same thing about 360 or PS3.... and PS3 arguably has the best single player games even with having an all-in on the online front as you call it. The PSP was the same way with online access only it was limited to wi-fi. This is no different. Anyway it's been confirmed that not every PSP2 will have 3G support, it'll be an optional model for those who want it.

Anyway, I think it'll be cool having a portable with graphics of the PS3. It is somewhat big, but as shown in an earlier post it isn't much bigger than a PSP 3k(only .4 inches longer and marginally thicker) so it's probably around the size of an original PSP overall and probably smaller than the DSi XL.
No what I was talking about was that those systems without the ability to access online gaming would all mostly flop, 360 included. The PSP was nice but its limited library of natural online playing games, especially the fact that Monster Hunter couldn't.. was poor for it, though I did get Xlink Kai to enjoy for the last 3-4 months I had it. That being said, as long as there is Wi-Fi functionality (I doubt there wouldn't be) and games that can actually play online with said Wi-Fi instead of 3G access, that is a plus, since I see the PSPs as better systems, overall, than the DS lineup. Truth be told though, I bet that it's going to have a $500-$600 price tag just like the original PS3 did.. and if it doesn't then it is probably going to be dumbed down a tad for launch.. like in downscaling said PS3 games and taking out some hardware components to moderate the cost.

Even still.. a handheld is something I'd like to fit in my pocket, and even with decent ones like what I have, it could be tricky due to its overall size and me not wanting to damage the analogs by stuffing them in a tight space. I'm not one to have a handheld/console carrying case.. just not my thing. And I highly doubt that it's going to be smaller than the DSi XL because with all of that hardware and real joysticks, it has the potential to be wider and much thicker, since even the XL is relatively slim when closed up.
Well like the dimensions I posted above they aren't much bigger than the PSP you currently have. Not denying it will fill up your entire pocket though, the original PSP already did that for me. lol

I expect the price to be in-line with the 3DS. The PS3 was expensive because of new technology, there isn't anything new in this device. Touch screens/pads, cameras, it's all been done before in MANY MANY gadgets out there. I'd say $250 for the model without 3G and probably $300 for the high end model. If the PSP2 is the same price as the 3DS I could see it fairing much better than the PSP did against the DS. The DS only really got a foothold over the PSP because it was launched at $100 cheaper. I'm sure the DS would have still beat the PSP if they were evenly priced, however I think it would have been closer.

Codemasters expects it to match 3DS pricing. Excellent news if true.

Hmm it's a bit too big if you ask me. It looks pretty neat as in its functionality and such but it just seems a bit... I dunno bulky Sony usually go with sleek handhelds and it is Nintendo that bring out big bricks but now Sony must be trying that out too.

I'll be interested to see if it gets more hype as time draws on. I think a lot of people may be put off by it's sheer size.
I think it looks bigger than it is and I don't really think many care about the size, but I'm sure some will... Tablet PCs are catching on and they are not small and people actually liked when Nintendo made the DSi bigger with the XL edition. It's slightly bigger in width(by .4 inches) and length, but less thick than the PSP 1000. It is also thinner and not as long as the DSi XL.

PSP 1000 Dimensions: 6.7in wide x 3in long x 0.9in thick
DSi XL Dimensions: 6.3in wide x 3.6in long x 0.8in thick
PSP2 Dimensions: 7.1in wide x 3.3in long x 0.7in thick

Anyway onto the actual hardware itself, I always thought the PSP needed wi-fi anywhere. I always thought it was kind of lame how online play was limited to your house or some hotspot. 3G is neat, but I don't think I'll pay for it considering that the phone companies in the U.S. will likely overcharge for 3G service.

Couldn't this have just been combined with the PSP2 rumor topics.. I mean.. that's what I did with the MK9 thread. :/

But I don't think I'm going to get the PSP2. 4G really doesn't appeal to me in a handheld, and while I know it's optional.. when you start going that all-in on the online front, most of the single player experiences will probably be watered down, making the device without internet access seem really worthless.

P.S. A handheld with all of this power and real joysticks seems like it's going to be fairly chunky.

Meh, I'll just wait for the inevitable announcement of a Monster Hunter game, then I'll worry about buying one.

Monster Hunter is already playable on it. ;)

So far it has a lot of support and this list doesn't even include Sony owned studios. For the second time I'm impressed with a handheld's lineup. This and the 3DS have very good titles coming out at launch. The original DS had a crappy launch(Mario 64 being the only good game and that was a port) and the PSP had a bad launch as well with only two decent games(Twisted Metal and WipEout).

I can't wait to see Kojima's dream game at E3. He described it as a game you could play on PS3 and when you want to go out you could just resume on your portable device when wanted. Sounds neat!

New phone carrier!
So I finally got rid of Verizon... Pretty much they are the most overpriced wireless phone company out there!! Their lowest plan is $40 a month but that isn't really true is it? No because the require you to have a measly 25mb data plan for $10 more a month. So their absolute lowest services is $50 a month for 450 minutes and 25mb data for internet. This does not include texting! Which means every text with this plan is 20 cents per text. You can get a bundle for 500 texts a month for $10 more though... So essentially you're paying $60 a month at this point for that. Add on the $6 a month I was paying for insurance and you have about $66 a month for a VERY limited plan...

The last straw in my patience for them was the fact that they wanted $95 for me this month for no reason! I did not go over on anything, so I was pissed! I pretty much terminated my contract, and while that was costly, it was worth it to wash my hands of them.

Top 10 Most anticipated games of 2011.
1) Twisted Metal < This one I could be satisfied with if it were the only game I got in the year.
2) ICO/Shadow of the Colossus Collection
3) The Last Guardian
4) Uncharted 3
5) Mortal Kombat 9
6) Silent Hill Downpour
7) Killzone/Resistance 3
8) inFAMOUS 2
9) Socom 4: US Navy Seals
10) Duke Nukem Forever

The scariest game?
The first Fatal Frame is very rare, but that is an awesome game! I also owned the second one and that one was just as scary. It was different since it was two sisters and different locations instead of a man in a mansion but they were both very scary and good.

The scariest game?
I'd have to say Silent Hill 3. The horror games on PS2 are much scarier than the games now days, it's almost as if they are watered down. Fatal Frame is also a very good one.

Siren Blood Curse is also a good one by today's standards.

Final Fantasy XIII-2
I doubt it will be like KH gameplay wise. However, Versus XIII will be like a darker gritty KH. I mean without the Disney, but the gameplay will be the same since it's being developed by the same person who created KH.

Duke Nukem Forever back in development
Darn you beat me to it. The trailer is funny. haha

Final Fantasy XIII-2
FFXIII was a disappointment to most of the fans, I think. I really don't know anyone interested in this and I certainly am not considering XIII was so terrible. I am not really a big fan of FF but I liked FF7 & 8 on the PS1 and Crisis Core on PSP. I got XIII and it was just way too linear and not fun. FF14 was a disappointment to most also. Most of the fans are saying that Versus XIII is the only hope for the main series. Hopefully it redeems this fabled franchise.

Final Fantasy XIII-2, Agito XIII
Ok I thought FFXIII was mediocre. Versus XIII actually looks to be leagues above XIII and in similar fashion to Crisis Core or a gritty version of Kingdom Hearts but NOW there is XIII-2. -_- Do we really need a sequel to the worst FF in the main series so far? Just move onto FFXV(since XIV is an MMO) lol... I wouldn't be surprised if XIII-2 is all of the content cut from XIII that made XIII so linear. haha

Killzone3 Will Smack BlackOps out of the Park
I don't really hate Black Ops I just don't think it's the greatest game out there. I have a lot more respect for it than MW2 which was just a lazy update that had downgraded features to the previous one. It(Black Ops) gets too much hype for being a standard shooter. There really isn't anything special about it but there isn't anything bad about it. That's just my opinion though.

As far as campaign goes I think KZ2 had a much better campaign with better pacing and action gameplay than MW2 and that's even with a poor story(but KZ2 didn't have much to compete with story-wise anyway). KZ3 looks to improve everything that was wrong with KZ2. It actually has a good looking story, co-op campaign, more intense gameplay, and better online. MW2 did have KZ2 beat in online as KZ2 had much less to unlock but the gameplay was good. KZ3 is going to have a more beefy online than KZ2 as well.
