Sonic 4 with green eyes

It doesn't make sense. Why does Sonic have green eyes in an original game when he never did before? And Eggman has changed? I feel Sega has disrupted the time constraints, which is why Sonic 4 will never be a classic in my eyes.

There is no valid explanation to explain this. Since 1999 Sonic evolved to having green eyes (a metamorphasis type thing I suppose). Then, Sega tries to go back in time and give Sonic green eyes in an original series dated before 1999 (when Sonic had black eyes).

This is a major plot hole Sega has put themselves into. It pains me to think that Sonic 4 is actually on par with the original classics. Sonic 4 is too modernized to be an original Sonic game. I'll still play the game, but never will Sonic 4 be a classic. It's too new and historically inaccurate.

It's like the Sonic from 1991 to 1999 never existed. Some say I'm a minority, and I am. But I'm not the only one arguing this point for the sake of Sonic. I don't know people have a problem with fans that want true Sonic games. I'm not a classic Sonic gamer, I just am a Sonic fan who wishes time frames were executed correctly.
