How to Make Speech Bubbles
In case you didn't know, Chaos Shadow started to try making a sprite comic, but was having a little difficulty with the speech bubbles.
Nobody else seemed to be trying to explain how to do it properly, so I decided to make a tutorial, and figured that since I'd already made one on recolouring, I might as well make one on speech bubbles, in a slightly different style to last time, since I didn't need quite as many diagrams for this one.
Well, enjoy.
Gale's Crappy Speech Bubble Tutorial
- Before starting out at all, please make sure that your select tool has the transparent option, as seen below:
Now you're ready to get started.
- Start by typing out the text you want to appear in a speech bubble:
- Move the shortest lines of text to the middle, so that the text is centralised:
- Make your bubble's body using the rounded rectangle tool:
- Select your text using (you wouldn't have guessed it) the select tool, and then drag it outside of your bubble's body:
- Make your bubble's tail by connecting the ends of two lines together:
- Erase the outline of the body where the tail is:
- Double click one of the colours on your pallet, and select a white colour. Then, drag the slider on the far right down a very slight amount. This is done so that when you are placing the bubble on your comic, the white will not become transparent.
- Fill your speech bubble in the colour you just created. You can actually notice that my white has become a very pale grey - however, you should try to make your colour as close to being pure white as possible without actually using white.
- Select and drag your text back onto the bubble:
- Drag your speech bubble onto your comic:
And now you're done!
I hope you found this helpful.
- Alternatively, if you want a pure white bubble, copy these steps without filling the bubble with the pale grey, but fill the background of the bubble with one of the colours on your pallet:
After that, right click the colour you used on the pallet, so it becomes a background colour:
Good luck. :3
