Musings of the sleepless.
IF YOU ARE EASILY FRIGHTENED TURN BACK NOW!
Also, if you're interested in a fan game based on Super Mario World containing playable characters such as Sonic, Link, Tails, Kirby, and Wario (and the origin of the image below) click here.
Are you sure you want to keep going?
Really?
OK then...
Now that you know the reason behind my sleeplessness, I can get writing. I'm really only half-joking, since the human mind does play tricks on one late at night and during times of illness, and it is currently 5:30AM and I just got over the fastest bout of flu ever. I'm not one to generally be kept awake by even the most disturbing things, and when I first saw the video in which this image was contained I laughed long and hard, but when life stresses you out, your brain likes to cave at inopportune moments. I'm snickering at this now, but I'm sure if I turned out my light I'd stop immediately...
About half an hour ago I was considering not sleeping (now it's fairly certain) in order to do more work on my term papers and avoid nightmares that would most certainly plague me after 1) screwing up my sleeping patterns, 2) getting over the flu, and 3) viewing that video (I put a link to it above...it's not a shock, and gives you fair warning). So I got up to grab a glass of Coke. I was still snickering to myself about that video, and "Can You Feel The Sunshine" was stuck in my head so you can imagine my mirth. I'd walked to the kitchen across the house and gotten my glass without any incident beyond almost stepping on my cat and laughing more. LITTLE DID I SUSPECT...ahem.
Walking back to my room, on the other side of the house, thin air/the voice in my head/my imaginary friend (depending on the level of respect for me you want to retain...maybe you think eighteen year olds with imaginary friends are cool) asked me what I was laughing about, so I ended up starting to explain the internet fad, the "curse" of the Tails Doll:
"Well, some people wanted to get other people to try out Sonic R, because it was a crappy game and no one found much interest in it. Got a hidden character at the very end of the game that's called the Tails Doll - don't worry, entirely different character - and it's just sort of there for the shock value-" and then I broke off, because at that point my brain decided that it wanted to remind me that I was currently in a pitch black location, with "Can You Feel The Sunshine" firmly attached to its frontal lobe, and that I had just seen the most brick-shittingest image of the Tails Doll ever. That image swam to encompass my vision, enlarged and unavoidable in front of me in place of the darkness.
Anyway, I panicked. I spun around to look behind me as panicked people do, although that route was just as black. The image still swam in front of me (and my buddy had vanished). All I could think was that I had to get out of the dark, now. There was a light in the next hallway that was motion-activated...I slid forward, not caring about the noise I - or anything underfoot - might make. I rounded the corner and could see a faint, glimmering line puncturing the darkness, and then the light came on.
It was red. Dead **Bleep**ing serious; I'd swear on my eventual grave. My bedroom door was open and closed almost before I was through it...I'm fairly sure I broke the sound barrier. I don't know what could have caused the light to be red rather than its normal incandescent yellow-white, as not a single object normally in the room beyond emits anything but either a white or blue glow, and I'm sure as hell not going to check tonight. I consider myself a highly logical person, and I'm fairly sure a demonic one-shot video game character isn't waiting on the other side of my door. So sure, in fact, that I'm not even going to check. So there.
Instead, I'm going to finish this, my very first blog entry here on SB: highly embarrassing, and hopefully in consequence very amusing to whoever might read it. I'm then going to continue work on my term paper which is, coincidentally, for psychology (my thesis is "unfulfilled goals of adolescence can lead to neurosis and psychological regression", believe it or not). Maybe watch a few more videos on YouTube, read a book if my brain stops working and loses interest in videos.
One thing's for certain, though. Until the sun comes up, until other people are moving around in the house, and until a certain someone stops laughing at me, this door stays closed (ohshitit'snotclosed!) and I stay on this side of it. And I'll be singing...

You know, in theory, if someone had read this and then Sonic Trivia, they would've known half the answer to the newest question.
...
By the way, Dregan already pulled the 'turn back now, followed by a Tails Doll' trick. It was on a different site though, so you win this round...*shakes fist* -

Yeah, I realized a day after posting this that that section of the video wasn't original. Still, pretty awesome game <3 .
Also, congrats. You're the first person I've shared this story with to not get immediately freaked out either by the story itself or out of concern for my sanity. You, sir, get a cookie. -

That it did. Hasn't happened since, though...maybe it was an idle threat.
